I offline campaign is very average. NPC animation/motion are terrible though.

The online is ok if it doesn't lag, which is about 50% of the time.

All in all, a solid 6/10 from me.

I just feel the game is over-hyped some what. Sure, it looks pretty (if I ignore the terrible allied NPC animations). But in terms of design, the single player campaign just doesn't really do anything new, and it doesn't break itself up as well as CoD4 or with the same pacing. The tank/suit/AA turret bits should have been more evenly distributed across the campaign. I also find the environments a bit samey and non-descript.

As for online, my experience (~6 hours, so not huge) is that games devolve into 1 or 2 messy as hell choke points. And I fear what's going to happen as more and more people unlock turrets. I'm also fucking bored of running into people with overpowered shotguns.

I'm down with the controls now though - they finally clicked last night as I finished the offline game on veteran. I also saw the light in the default control scheme, so I have changed to that for my elite play through, to force myself to unlearn L1 as aim and R3 as melee. Not only do the default controls allow me to use cover a lot more effectively, I keep pressing R3 by accident. So it's better to accidently zoom than melee, because you can't fire while doing melee.

FYI, I find a horizontal sensitivity of 70~80% and vertical at 50% gives me minimal inertia with maximum un-scoped speed.

EDIT: oh yeah - and what's with giving people fuck all ammunition from spawn. That's fine when there's ammo spots around, but most of the games I play either don't have them or don't mark them on the map. I've got enough badges (good conduct is it?) now to give me more start ammo, but I haven't played since I got that so don't know how much extra it is...

I cant comment on COD series at all. Never played them.
I've only been through (fps's)...
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Timesplitters 2/3
Warhawk
BFBC
KZ2.

So I'm not really an expert on what has been, just know what I like, and I like KZ2.

I can see what you mean with choke points, but I've already encountered a few games where players see them happening, throw a grenade in and run the other way - to find a way around. Those that stay waste time and/or hold some of the enemy up for a while, which could be useful - at least you know where some of the bad guys are! (personally - I love them, its a challenge to get through)

I can also appreciate the turret scenario. But you dont die straight away from being shot by them, you get a second to move - they sound different to normal ammo fire so I think there is plenty of scope for learning how to avoid them. Its those flying bastards that are annoying. - more for giving your position away than actually taking any health off. Run Forest!

I've gained 3 trophy/ribbons on SP so havent been that deep yet, but I bought it for the MP. Same as BFBC - which I still havent completed, as I love the MP too much to give the SP any time at all.

Wow, any FPS fan that hasn't played CoD4 really has missed out on a benchmark defining game for the genre, both on and offline in my opinion. On a par with Goldeneye.

Perfect Dark was to Goldeneye what KZ2 is to CoD4 in my mind, if that makes any sense.

That makes perfect sense. (if you consider PD to be better than Goldeneye that is)

I may try and get a go before the servers get dropped.

Yeah. Thinkng about doing that Game £10 a month thing, but I wanna dedicate myself to Killzone first... by dedicate - I dont mean like hardcore, Just when PS3 goes on, so does Killzone. (with a bit of BFBC in the middle) I cant play it as much as I'd like so I'll be to your lots level a month or two after you get there.

Yeah, kind of. I meant Goldeneye was a masasive leap forward, then Perfect Dark was a slight improvement.
