The music companies want to go back to the days of vinyl, back to the 60's - 90's when a gold record meant 1million sales and platinum meant 5 million.
Now you get gold at 50,000.
I do see that illegal downloads WILL hurt business, but so does being selfish and intractable. People want music how they want it. Simple as.
iTunes and other digital outlets manage by offering people extacly that.

They say that it costs money to bring a band to market, sign deals, pay recording studio's, pay off reviewers and venue owners etc. Yet there's now a growing number of groups who use FREE outlets for their music. They pay for everything t
