Should Wikipedia ask people to donate or should the use adverts on their websites?
If they used contextual advertising it wouldn't seem intrusive, but asking for donations is?
how many times a week do you read something on wikipedia? Would you mind adverts or do you think this donation request isn't as bad?

I'm on wikipedia a lot but normally now through Wapedia on my tablet it has one advert at the top of each page and i just scroll right past it. also not really fussy about ads on wikipedia as i have adblock+ running.
An explosion now and then is nice. Keeps the mind sharp,

Yeah I saw that the other day and thought it was fair play. It's a good way of doing it IMO, as it keeps ads off the site and they do provide a world wide service. Wikipedia is a useful resource, of only for the citations.
