A couple of weeks ago I posted about this kickstarter project on gamers-pad.co.uk, it looks and sounds fantastic.
But I've just learned that Philips are releasing a version in March 2013 with fewer restrictions. Called the Philips Hue, both are similarly priced and have the same features, but I think Philips might beat LIFX to market.

im sure LED's will eventually overtake energy saving lightbulbs AKA CFB compact flourescent bulbs. but the price sheeeeesh! im going to gradually replace the bulbs in my spotlights in the kitchen with LED equivilants and if i can find reasonable replacements for the standard size bulbs i will too but i think a remote control colour changing bulb is a bit too much for me at the mo!
An explosion now and then is nice. Keeps the mind sharp,

Philips might beat LIFX to market, but once the Chinese get involved and other lighting companies, the price will drop.
Wi-Fi chips are after all pretty damn cheap to buy, but buying in bulk will be even cheaper.
I've asked Philips for a review pack, I just hope I get one.
