It starts this Friday - 17th Dec.
I'm probably going to go and see it, but Imax is calling... Imax in 3D.
I've never seen a movie on Imax, and never seen a movie in 3D, I've played games sure, but not a movie, and not on Imax.
It should be mind blowing. Unless the film is pants of course.
Looking on IMDB, it's a marmite film, and if you saw that first, you probably wont like this one.

Playing a game on IMax...wow. I hear the remastered Ico/Shadow of Collossus is 3D enabled. Imagine Shadow of Collossus, in 3D, on IMax. Pants creaming...Dazbobaby wrote:I've never seen a movie on Imax, and never seen a movie in 3D, I've played games sure, but not a movie, and not on Imax.

I've really been looking forward to this film for a while now. The art style is so gorgeous and Mass Effect like.
There's an IMAX where I live so I'll try and see it as soon as I get back. Got to try and find some peeps to go with though. Noone wants to see it because they think it's too ''SciFi''. :face palm: Pfft

Chris and I went to see it today, we didn't go to the Imax, it started at 2:30pm and would have kicked us out in Bradford City center during rush hour. So we went to the Huddersfield Odeon insted.
It was in 3D just like the Imax, and looked very nice.
The film:
forget that the original Tron ever existed. While they use characters and similar effects to the original, thats pretty much where Tron and Tron: Evolution part ways.
Standing alone it's a great film, but probably not worth a second viewing. It's an actioner after all, not brilliant on dialogue or plot, but still worth a look.
Special Effects:
In 3D it was brilliant, they didn't over use it either, so while some things did come flying out of the screen, you don't feel overloaded with them. Which IMHO works better, because when they do throw things at the camera, it makes these moments stand out.
Also there are little things going on in the backround or periphery and these little things stand out. Example: Flynn (trapped inside the "GRID" is meditating when he meets his son for the first time in 20 years, and there are tiny light particles floating up around him, this looks amazing, but only because the rest of the scene wasn't screaming for your attention.
As for the rest of the visuals, it's just like the first Tron, but more of it, and better done.
The fighting is pretty damned cool too, lots of wire-foo to enjoy, and the original Tron character makes a re-appearance, but this time as a bad guy elite assassin.
Plot:
Thin, dialogue is thin.
Basically Flynn is captured by C.L.U, a perfect and badder version of the M.C.P. Flynn is in constant hiding, trying to be the Zen master and waiting for an opportunity to beat C.L.U. I'm sure you've heard the advice "if you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will come floating by", well, thats what Flynn does best.
There are a new type of characters the evolve into being, and it's CLU who destroys them, all but one.
One of CLU's missions is to create a perfect system, and he does, but once he's complete, he wants to get out of the system and into the real world.
Enter Flynns son, who thought his dad died 20 years earlier. Then the battle to stop CLU from entering our world begins.
The audio is fantastic, the visuals are amazing, what is it like in 2D? I don't know or care. I saw it in 3D and loved it.
All in all it's worth watching, and if you can, go see it in 3D

It's not, its all action.
Sure there is the Sci-fi element, but it's more akin to the Matrix movies. Tell them that, and you might get someone interested.
