Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi has said that PS3 flagship racing title Gran Turismo 5 is 90% complete.

“We are just working on the last 10% and polishing up everything,” he told USA Today earlier this month at CES, shortly before Sony announced that the title’s planned March 31 Japanese launch had been delayed due to production-related matters.

Last June Yamauchi told us that Gran Turismo 5 development was running smoothly, noting that the company “could put it out at any time, or we could carry on working on it. There’s always something to polish”.

Yamauchi told USA Today that the wait would be worth it, claiming Gran Turismo 5 “will change the style of car games in the future. It will be creating a new standard for the genre".

The interview also covered emerging technologies such as 3D and motion control.

“For 3D, I think our level of expression in that technology is not really complete yet. We still have a lot of development work in development that has to poured into that field. As for motion control it is a brand new user interface. It really has infinite possibilities, of course, for the game industry and other industries. There is still a lot more development that needs to go into it but it's a major possibility right now.”

They must be having some serious problems to bump the release date twice.
I still wish it did'nt feel so wooden though. No racing game has the scope of GT. It's just enormous.
And gorgeous.

I think this game is the release of them all,

This should push the PS3 more than most games out there.

Why has this been set back so long, Well with the Biggest Title out on the market they sure didn't want to disappoint there buyers!

And with the lunch being in 2010, the Year the 3D TV's Go on Sale, They wanted to ensure Gran Turismo 5 Was compatible with a 3D Format, and sweet it looks!!!!!!!

Like i have said before, i don't like there is no Damage effect on this game,
But it is still a very sweet game, with the Handling of Cars, Performance everything being so down to the NUT, it has to be a great game,

(And before the Flaming starts, just because you can drive up against the wall and continue while scraping along the wall is not really cheating as you aint goning get any where near a time that you would if you drove the thing properly ;-) hehe

Are you refering to my video?

I have had so much grief over that and it's funny too.
No one seems to get the point. GT is a fantastic game with an enormous scope and array of cars, as well as being a stunner to look at. But it really needs damamge.

Am I the only one that really doesn't rate the GT series?

Don't get me wrong - I loooove racing games. My first online experience was Burnout 3 on PS2. I own every Burnout game released (even PSP ones), love Wipeout, love Motorstorm, just started playing Fuel and that's really good (don't understand why it didn't do that well) to name just a few.

But GT just never has done it for me - except the rally sections on 3. I think it's the cornering I don't like. Oh, and the hype...

You're not the only one Infinite, it looks gorgeous, and has a lot of challeges.
But it feels like I'm driving a bus and not a sports car, the accelleration is fine, it's just the cornering.

Yeah your earliest quote pretty much sums it up for me too - except the graphics selling point wears thinner and thinner now that other racers look amazing too.

But basically, if I throw the wheel (or joystick) hard left, I expect the car to also turn hard left. The results won't necessarily be pretty, but it responded. GT doesn't do that - it just carries on going in a straight line unless some serious braking occured first.

And the latest GTA had the same problem - and suffered massively because of it.

One of the things I truly loved about Grid was the cornering.
If you hit a bump or kerb on the inside of the corner, the car reacted like you hit a bump or kerb. The suspension reacted accordingly with the car going sideways and struggling for grip.
Or you could easily kick the backend out and go around the corner sideways... not so with GT, for all it's bravado for being a technical racer, it's not.
I agree, there are some stunningly epic looking driving games around now. So it had better be damn near perfect.
Of course, GT lovers will rant and rave about how much better it is than everything else ever! But all they're doing is convincing themselves that they have'nt bought a turkey.

I did love playing GT3 though on the PS2, infact, it's the game that made me buy a ps2.
But the world of racing has moved on since then.

Off Topic, but it's nice to have you back Infinite, I thought you and Coda had gone the way of Vlad, and I'm still not sure about Coda.

Cheers dude - nah just not checking forums as much now I'm not at work. Had my head up Dragon Age's arse for a week or so, but done with it now. GGs on Uncharted the other day too...we should check the survival mode if you've not played it yet, and get couple more dudes.

yeah yeah yeah, I'm here and yes I've been quiet. What with my op and everything not been too busy on the, er, anything front really.
OK, I've had time to upload hospital pics to facebook (add Richard Scott-Noble if you fancy a look) and moan a lot about how the NHS are bastards, but that's about it.
Been on PS3 bits and bats but just getting bored with it lately.
Trying to fix my PC is fast becoming my biggest test of will power I've ever had - got a virus before christmas and I'm still struggling to work with it. Stuff jumping all over the place, things not working, things moving. Hell on earth.
Also trying to sort Symantec anti virus software on Lynda's Mac is also taking days out of my life - we updated software in august and its stopped working but Norton dont want to know. Cunts.

I'll endevour to come on here as much as I can and I apologise from the bottom of my heart if you think I went "All Vlad" :)
