Good games Daz and Red. Daz man, I'm really sorry lol, but every target of opportunity seemed to be you. Of everything I fired forwards I don't think one single one went Red's way. Dunno who (if anyone) hit the shit I drop out the back.

Anyway, I noticed that both of you a) are quite slow off the line and b) quite slow in general. Before you take offence at what could be perceived as a massive diss, hear me out: it's a known problem with the initial control settings that means you have to press the accelerator really fucking hard to get top speed. Coupled with the totally counter-intuitive control options. So try this (for point b):

In the main menu (doesn't work in game - you don't get full options) go Options -> Controls -> Player 1 then set both Airbrake and Acceleration sensitivity to 10%. Yep - you read right: 10 (ten) %

If you get your lines vaguely on you shouldn't need a lot of airbrake - just a tap will see you right. Sebenco Climb and that fekin corner on Ubermall not-withstanding.

As for point a) above - the optimum turbo start is count with the countdown (3-2-1-go) but instead of doing it bang on go, press accelerate just after go (about 0.05~0.1 seconds). If you do it offline you should notice the AI start to move just before you press X...

And while I'm here, a couple of weapons tips:

* never fire a missile without a lock on, unless the target is slipping out of range. Wait for the solid tone.

* when you're out in front or there's no one visible in front of you, dump any weapon that fires forwards with the O button. This absorbs the weapon and gives you health back. The exception to this is quake - always fire that off as it can clear mines and bombs. Plus it looks cool.

* don't be shy to hang on to an auto-pilot or a turbo for nearly a lap to use it in the best place for that track. e.g. on Sebenco Climb (forwards) if you hit a turbo as you come out the tunnel you can fly over that horrible zig-zag bit. And an autopilot on Metropia (reverse) can send you flying up the pack if you use it just as you get to the top of that massive hill.


I'm sure I had more tips, but they escape me now. They'll no doubt come back to me when I can't post them...

Looks like you use pilot assist... Just be aware you go slightly slower with that on. Like manual/automatic in car racing games. Also, it can fuck with your racing line because it bounces you when you try to shave a chicane or cut a corner (you can fly across some corners if you get air before hand).

I'm pissed with myself, the one where seddon beat me by 1/100th of a second, I thought had recorded, it did'nt, and sods law, and from the camera's perspective, was by far the best race.

You guys had some really good races. Most of the time you were within the same second, and at worse there was only a couple of seconds difference. Red must use pilot assist too...?
