Looking at it on Youtube!! its a defo!! i will spend hours to get it working
for it to look something like that, or one of the other version i have seen.

With the mass amount of movies! would be perfect, and also to put them all in a genre anyway
Action, Horror, etc etc

looking good!! fingers crossed for monday now hehe!!

Why do you say dont bother?
Did you get it working? or is there serious efforts to get everything to link to one another?

There is a lot of effort required to get it to work, and it's not as simple as dropping an image into a folder and calling it folder.jpg

I found some resources yesterday, so have a read through.
I did find that the custom firmware is Linux, so you should feel right at home.

I managed to install the CFW, Psycho's OSD mod and Random Wallpaper mod, but then a certain part of the OSD would NOT GO AWAY, so I had to drop back to OFW. Shame as CFW is much better.

There's also a seriously nice web interface for the configeration, with lots of excellent touches and a massive amount of options, and even a torrent client, RSS reader, NFS, Samba, DLNA server, FTP, Apache, you name it... it can do it.

I loved the custom firmware even though I was nervous about installing it.

The problem was the on screen display (OSD). The "option" button on the remote will open up this OSD and let you change subs and audio streams. But for me, with CFW this OSD would not go away.

I tried alsorts and never got it to work, so I dropped back to official firmware.

Sadly the forums for the CFW are closed to new registrations.

So Dave what do you think?

BTW, you do need psychoTHC mod for menusheets, my bad.

I had the wrong version installed and had some problems, now I've cleaned it off, it's all good.

I like it!!

in regards to speed.... Hmmmm a little touchy at the moment.
In comparison to the PS3, Navigating through my folders to my media was Smooth and fast.
Here is Smoothish and Medium.
And if it falls behind a little and you hit the back button too many times your too far out of the folder or w/e you where browsing.

In all fairness, we are talking about a drive that have 853 Video clips on it.
Some from 1080i/p to 720p to normal DVD Rips.
To home recordings to some Tutorials
750gb the Drive is. So from that point its a little slower than i expected.
But am going to have a little play around! see whats what first.

One thing i aint spent alot of time looking at. Why when i play a Movie i have a stupid Menu at the top that does fuck all.... :p
Regardless what i press it does nothing......

Anyway i might have a look at going back to default (Theme Wise)
Might make my own basic thing.

Also as you prob know i aint going to rest
about this BBCi PLayer and so on.
So a couple of links i have come accross:

If you click on
WDLXTV Config

You get a new Window, One of them Tabs is "WDTVExt plugins"

This lets you install all sorts, and you can enable and disable all sorts using the icon in your Media Player Menu.

I cannot get it to work... and cannot get the icon to show on my media player.
look at this video and you will see:
