[quote2="InfiniteStates"]Jesus guys, you love to hate Dice don't you?
What is the problem with '43? Mine works flawlessly, not counting the plane undercarriage. I've never been disconnected from a game, it's not laggy 95% of the time (admittedly I don't try using the squad system or comms), and I think it's frozen on me once.
It was a tenner, and I have definitely got my money's worth out of it and more. It is still the best dogfighting game I have on the system. Until next month. Hopefully.
And as for the PC release, I read somewhere, I think it was IGN, that they are delaying the PC release because it's the first game using the Frostbite engine on PC and they wanted to get right.
This makes huge sense as a business. They will basically get a small return on what is essentially R&D that a development studio would normally do unpaid.
Then once that is done, all future games using Frostbite can be built for all 3 platforms. That means they can release on an extra platform (probably their largest market share platform too) whenever a new game is ready, which suits marketing as well because they can market the game over more platforms under the same budget.
They're not trying to con us, they are just trying to operate their business in the most streamlined way in a fucked economic climate...
EDIT: first line sounded harsher than I meant :beaten:[/quote2]
You are right, I over reacted, (again)! but if the games were'nt so good, I would'nt be so frustrated at the bugs.
There's a lot going around...
Voip
Squads
Concrete bunkers dont protect you like they should
Disconections
terrain clipping
Private Matches
BUT...
As a Dev yourself, you have a right to feel protective about other Devs, but as a consumer, I have a right to complain about games being buggy.
That said, feel free to kick my arse again if you feel I'm wrong.

LOL Daz, we're both entitled to our opinions and neither is right (or wrong)
It's is annoying for me to see time and again on forums people moaning about (this certainly isn't directed at this forum - except maybe KK [jk!]) about pissy little things that basically cross the t's and dot the i's when you look at the big picture of what the devs did actually achieve.
Don't forget that game development is a business. And like most businesses, time is money. You can sit and tweak and tweak and iron and tweak until the cows come home, but you have to draw a line under it somewhere and release your product. Especially when you have external publishing deadlines to meet. There are very few devs that can afford to say "it'll be done when it's done".
Prototype is one - that game is a fucking technical marvel in certain respects, but you still get people moaning about the little things. And I've absolutely no doubt that if all the issues they moaned about were fixed, there would be more...
That said, it is pretty annoying to see the same bugs/problems appearing over and over again in every iteration of the Battlefield series. That is, well...just shit quite frankly.

And that was my point.InfiniteStates wrote:That said, it is pretty annoying to see the same bugs/problems appearing over and over again in every iteration of the Battlefield series. That is, well...just shit quite frankly.
BF2, 2142 had perfect squad support. BFBC and 1943 have both the same problems, infact 1943 has even more.
And even though they (DICE) promised DLC if 1943 was a success, and lets face it, they've said more than once that it was unbelievably bigger than DICE could have even imagined. And now they tell us that there will be no DLC.
Promises made and now broken. Now they have our cash.
Is it DICE's fault? Or GVD's fault? Or is it just EA saying no, dont waste any more time/resources on this mini title?
Lets face it, a few more maps and weapons would'nt take too much effort and could raise a nice chunk of cash.
600,000 copies of 1943 sold, @ £10 = £6m and even after tax and expenses, is still at least £2m profit.
It's a fine balancing act, working to make games for financial success and commercial success. Forget your customers, you'll suffer, forget the shareholders, you'll suffer if you start a major project.

Yet it's still bloody good fun, which I guess is my point in a nutshell.theDAZBOMEGATRON wrote:And that was my point.InfiniteStates wrote:That said, it is pretty annoying to see the same bugs/problems appearing over and over again in every iteration of the Battlefield series. Is '43 even published by EA? I can't recall off the top of my head. Unless they own the rights to the Battlefield franchise, there's no reason Dice can't publish it to PSN directly.
Which means it's firmly their fault there's no DLC. But I'm not a big believer of promises anyway. I believe it when I see it. Especially if it's business related.
