After the game was delayed to Q1 2010, I wonder if DICE will even continue to develop it for the pc?
The game is £10 on PS3 and Xbox (or there abouts), is it worth all the development time for a £10 game? Or will pc users get hit with an atra £15 charge? If thats the case, wont they also want extra content?
Extra content that has been dropped from the XBOX and PS3 version, ie, no more maps.
Even after DICE said that if the game was big enough, they will create extra content. Now it seems they're going back on their word.
OR
Was it a case of the game not being big enough to create new maps and features? If thats the case, then why was the launch such a joke?
Seems that no matter what way you look at it, they've just fucked us. And we paid them for the priveledge.

i am not getting it for the pc anymore.

Tell you what though, they are delaying the pc designing for a reason - but i do not know what it is right now.
Somethings going on, i mean in a recent interview they said nearly all households have a games console with the same hardware, which is much better to dev for .. it makes me wonder if they are fizzling them out, you know.

I don't think they will bother releasing it at all. The timing would be way off, it will not make good return, waste of time tbh.

presumably bf3 will utilise frostbite, if so the code is no doubt already there for use on pc so making 43 for pc shouldn't be a problem

they just want our cash!

I dont think seddon they are that busy fixing 43. It is non refundable unless it is crashes on you all the time, other than that it is like a movie that is ok but the plot has some holes in it and acting sometimes off. Would you ask for a refund? of course not, so why bother fixing it?

you can't compare a film to a game

liking a film is down to the individuals taste, you either like it or you don't, however if the cinema projector breaks down and you miss say 15 mins etc then you should be entitled to a refund of sorts

43 doesn't work properly, it was either rushed to get onto the psn or is a beta for bfbc2

if dice said it was a beta then you expect bugs, if it was a full game then bugs should be addressed and fixed

A tenner? I think they could have charged easily £20 because it is better than warhawk, but they didn't, and the reason is obvious - bugs.

I dont see what the problem is, battlefield 1943 should be very doable on the pc, it's very similar in achitecture and to the Xbox 360. And I belive, so is the programming.

Jesus guys, you love to hate Dice don't you?

What is the problem with '43? Mine works flawlessly, not counting the plane undercarriage. I've never been disconnected from a game, it's not laggy 95% of the time (admittedly I don't try using the squad system or comms), and I think it's frozen on me once.

It was a tenner, and I have definitely got my money's worth out of it and more. It is still the best dogfighting game I have on the system. Until next month. Hopefully.

And as for the PC release, I read somewhere, I think it was IGN, that they are delaying the PC release because it's the first game using the Frostbite engine on PC and they wanted to get right.

This makes huge sense as a business. They will basically get a small return on what is essentially R&D that a development studio would normally do unpaid.

Then once that is done, all future games using Frostbite can be built for all 3 platforms. That means they can release on an extra platform (probably their largest market share platform too) whenever a new game is ready, which suits marketing as well because they can market the game over more platforms under the same budget.

They're not trying to con us, they are just trying to operate their business in the most streamlined way in a fucked economic climate...

EDIT: first line sounded harsher than I meant :beaten:

I disagree, pushing release back 5+ months doesnt sound like this is because they "want to get it right"

Believe as you will, but adapting an engine to run on PC is not trivial, even if it does already support XBox.

There are so many permutations of PC hardware, testing is a nightmare.

Plus, they may have a skeleton crew on the job as they are also working on BC2, which they will be no doubt paid per milestone by EA, so that will take priority.

Although, I don't understand why any of you give a shit anyway? You've got it on PS3...

More importantly: where the hell is Heroes?

EDIT: nevermind, found it. Has anyone tried it?

heroes is ok for a bit - but its very baby-ish :(

I read gustav hallings blog alot(you can find link on my web) and hes the main dice designer (senior) he says that the need to ensure they get the pc right because they have had to build from the ground up.

He says there is no PC DX coding ready on a pc for the new frostbite, and the consoles do not use any similar type - ya can't just copy n paste this he says.

Xbox is close to pc workings but it requires lots of more work to get it right - probs is people use old hardware, new hardware , different dx's - it all needs to be tested.

But as a console game - they test 1 lot of code - because all consoles have the same hardware.
But i do stil think they are pushing back pc games for a reason, perhaps they are sick of losing money on this platform, i mean 1943 a hobbie project made them over 6 million dollars.

have a read.. gustavhalling.com

I have had many discussions about it, people seem to think you can create maps, games and dlc in a matter of hours, people are a bit un educated - especially over at the ea forums.
(which is less than 1% of the battlefield universe players) - so the problem seems bigger than it is, because these are the gusy moaning aLOT.
