I shouldn't complain about having a job since a lot of people can't find work, but its no excuse for the senior staff to be unable to handle a rota, just been asked to come in today asap and finish early, I was rota'd down for a late start late finish, this happens a lot.
I mean do they only look at the rota day to day and go "shit this is wrong" we don't have enough cover.
A decent senior staff should look a week ahead not just keep dropping it on staff day by day, over Christmas in retail I know its to be expected but it happens outside busy periods too!
my work rota failz

This seems to be a common problem - they couldn't manage a rota for shit at my wife's last place either. Apparently filling in boxes is too complicated for some people. The problem is probably made worse by the UK need to promote retards into management because our laws make it incredibly difficult to fire someone for being shit at their job...

Rota's are not rocket science.
I used to make monthly ones for 30 people.
1. does anyone have specific requirements?
2. add them to the rota first
3. fill in the blanks with everyone else.
4. if changes need to be made ad-hoc, get them to sort out the cover themselves. This stops people from changing the rota willy nilly.

well i finished my shift no worries got asked to stay an extra hour or there would have been a one hour gap between myself and my relief.
i think its a bit hard to do a rota for specific people in our place as everyone has their own agenda so no one is ever happy except me
i work through the day and have all weekend off, fuck everyone else
its a mix of full timers, part timers and part timers in school/college
basically it turns into a grade A clusterfuck
