I didnt get round to playing everything, but here are my impressions of the following:
Medal of Honour Warfighter - First game i ran to soon as the arena opened at 11. Played 10 minutes of singleplayer first, which in all fairness wasnt bad, but every demo setup you had to use a stupid ACOG sight on the weapon which was fucking annoying.
Graphics i would say are a 'slight' improvement on MOH 2010, i personally dont think they are on par with BF3....but i was playing on xbox as that was all they had. Game Ran smoothly, no lag when big explosions hit and a nice change of pace at the end of the level going from ground combat to providing cover from a blackhawk with a chain gun. Was set to easy difficulty as standard, but still had to use cover and dodge grenades etc. So first impressions arent bad.
Mulitplayer side of things is what i 'was' most excited about, but i walked away feeling slightly disappointed. Feels very similar to MOH 2010, with its wierd combo of Battlefield and COD play style. Dont get me wrong it is fun to play, but i think it will be similar to the previous title where its another fill in game till Black Ops 2/Next Battlefield DLC. Graphics are obviously worse than singleplayer........kind of gave me the shitty realisation that we are at the end of this current console generation and graphical improvement isnt really happening with Triple A mulit format titles, only with exclusives aka the last of us.
I do think it will be worth getting, but think it will loose its appeal quickly.
COD - Black Ops 2
Waited in the cue for nearly 2 hours to play this, but it was multiplayer unlike the spec ops mission of MW3 of last year.
Got to play 2 rounds of Multi-Team Deathmatch, 4teams of 4 vs each other aka squad deathmatch!
IT IS your stereotypical call of duty Mulitplayer, but with some nicer fresh modern weapons. The new 10 point perk system works a treat to balance things out, Graphics are cleaner than the drab modern warfare series which was a nice change.
It does play similar to Black Ops 1, but at a slightly faster pace and there didnt appear to be any stand out Over powered weapons aka the famas and ak74u.
IMO it does feel fresh to me compared to MW3, i do personally like COD but the previous title did feel stale even from launch.
Definitely worth a try! Got to meet David Vahnderharr from treyarch and he was cool too, very supportive of his fans....and he definitely has his dead screwed on in terms of 'what the community want' pushing E-Sports and more competitive play as well as adding content and taking away annoying features.
2nd favourite game there.
Far Cry 3
WOW, is all i can say!!!
Admittedly i did get to play this on pc, but fuck me it looked amazing and is a huge advancement on FC2.
Environments are beautiful, wildlife attack you (wolves) or you can hunt if you feel like it.
Enemies are smart, using appropriate cover, advancing on you when your outnumbered but then falling back to cover when you start popping heads.
Gun play was smooth, weapons felt beefy AND theyve removed all the irritations of constant gun jams and cars breaking down constantly.
EVERYTHING in this game felt polished and it was only pre-alpha.
I will be getting this on pc, unfortunately didnt have any console rigs setup just xbox controllers plugged in to the pcs.
Game of the show for me, easily.
Dishonoured
watched a few videos on this before hand so new slightly what to expect, dropped you into the demo with only a vague objective to achieve. Obviously being new to game most people just constantly died, as i did too. Auto aim was VERY heavy on the game but the
fact you can complete an objective any way you fancy is appealing.
Lots of different powers and abilities to play around with and some
nice gorey stealth kills as your reward.
Graphical style is comicy but also very clean, not like borderlands with rough edging etc. Worth a look if your interested in this type of game, but i got the impression it will drop quickly in price a month or so after launch....so maybe one to wait on.
Tomb Raider.
Another game with the wow factor.
Lots of moaning from the female actress was the only drawback, Not in a gay way....just felt excessive at times.
Gameplay was smooth and slick, so was the platforming (very uncharted). Graphics were nice, but i think the addition of the bow and arrow wont be to everyones taste, but i assume you will pick up a gun later. very gritty take on the series which was refreshing to see.
Another MUST for me.
Sim City 3000
I used to enjoy the old sim city games, and watching jess play this brought back memories.
Taken away some of the annoying features (laying water pipes etc), so you focus on more of the city layout and eco system etc.
Attention to detail on graphics was insane, when zoomed in fully you see little boxes moving through warehouses on machinery, lots of traffic and pedestrians. Imagine you will need a very high end pc to run it on ultra, but it did look amazing.
If you liked the old ones, this will probably be worth a look.
All of the AAA titles we played,
Assassins Creed 3 was available to play but we didnt have time to cue as well as the new god of war.
Both had made advancements visually, God of war incorporating multiplayer. AC3 showing off there new 'ship' level, wich looked fun but not worth the time for me as i was after a core experience....but i will be getting it after launch to take a look anyways.
Great day out same as last year, will be heading down for 2 days next year again...stay overnight to ensure i play everything on show
