what does this mean to the layperson daz?
An explosion now and then is nice. Keeps the mind sharp,

it means that anyone can setup a server with persistence.
right now, anyone who wants to run a server has to hire one, and then you are at the mercy of the devs activating vehicles, the more player slots you have, the higher the priority, but it could take upto 2 weeks.
Plus if you dont follow rockets rules, your server gets blacklisted and can no longer connect to the remote database, this means your server is basically dead in the water.
By having a cracked version of the database hosted on your own server, you can tell rocket to Foxtrot Oscar, and there's not a damn thing can be done about it.
It also massively reduces lag and desyncs, something that plagues the game as much as zombies do.
