So i watched it last night,

I forgot how good this film was, and i was defo in the right mood for it last night.

Very Powerful movie, with a fantastic ending.
And to be honest i almost shredded a tear at the end.

Just how it captures you into the film, and you understand how Denzel is as a character
I love how this film Starts with Denzel regretting his past or finding it hard to live with, Holds no emotion and cares for no one, He is a Alcoholic and is just after some Cash.

But over time he takes a liking to the Pita, I think the relationship building in this was constructed very well.
From him turning his back on her, to him helping her Win the swimming, helping with homework, the relationship built into a Father like role and Pita seriously looked up to him.

I dont know if anyone had noticed, but they Got the dog when it was a Puppy, and in the Kidnapping scene its all grown up, Shows he has been around a while and building that relationship.

Something that i found flawed was when Denzel was shot, he was being arrested under the murder of two police officers.
But yet he was hardly guarded at all by members of the force, and they never found it hard to transport him to somewhere else.

And another thing, a Punchered lung, but two days later he is on his feet and ready to role again, Am no medic, but am sure it might take a little longer to recover.

I found the pace of the movie very good, It was not all running and mass shoot outs,
I found it a very Calm and Slow pace, but kept you very focused and drilled into the film,
Its not like your typical Action film where they run around and super high speed car chases, it kept it in a very Mellow way i suppose, Toned down maybe. But not short of action or a bit of torcher :)

I loved the ending, would of been nice to see if the Denzel got payback i.e. C4ed himself,
I did do a little research and heard there was a Alt Ending where he did stash some C4 up his bottom like previously in the film, but it was never released.

And it would of been nice to see the New Papers publish all the stuff, and bring the corrupted Cops down and the gangs down, but i suppose that keeps you thinking after the film.
All in all a Epic Film,
A Remake or much of a copy from the film Leon i think,
and Taken to follow its its foot steps.

For me this gets a 8.5/10

^ This and one of my favourite films :)
As an aside, I propose Taken as next week's film as a compare and contrast against these two that are quite similar...?

Samuel is instructed by Jordan to hire a body guard for insurance purposes, which Samuel does. Only problem is, this one is an alcholic ex-special forces body guard.

The job Creasy has is to guard Pita, but Pita wants more than a body guard, she wants a friend. Creasy really doesn't want to work, and he definitely doesn't want a friend. But Pita eventually breaks through his defenses and softens the big man.

When Pita is eventually kidnapped and ransomed, the family, authorities and the kidnappers didn't bargain on an unstoppable (see what I did there :) ) train. Someone who would rather die than put Pita's life in any more danger.

Overall a brilliant film, probably one of Denzel Washington's best, it does drag a little at times, but that's because this isn't just an action film, and everything that happens is for a reason. Still I want the film to flow a little faster.

The performances from all the actors is straight from the top drawer, Marc Antony, Rhada Mitchel, Christopher Walken, Dakota Fanning, Giancarlo Giannini, and Mickey Rourke all make for a stunning cast and all put in their best.

Given the build up, I would have hoped the ending would be a little more positive, but in fairness, that's not the world that Creasy lives in, but he still gets what he wants, the safe return of Pita.

Rhada Mitchell, was fantastic as a mother in distress, Marc Anthony as her husband wants to kill everyone involved, and their lawyer Mickey Rourke just wants a quick buck. Denzel as their body guard wants nothing but Pita safe, and he's the only man to do it.

Overall 9/10
Sterling cast, all their best, even if Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke only have small parts, they still do what they're meant to do.

Finally got this finished yesterday and yep - still love it. Although I found the stylisation slightly more annoying than I remember, although I get that Tony Scott is using it to depict a state of mind. Also, it grated every time it played that song from Gladiator - but only cos it seemed so out of place compared to Gladiator. But hey - I'm always nicking my brother's shit :)

Still, when it kicks off (a bit late as Daz mentions), it really gets going, and the ending still does it for me (although see below).

And yet another great line from Mr. Walken (as if the caravan scene in True Romance isn't enough for one man's CV)...
Christopher Walken (Rayburn) wrote:A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasey's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece.
When I finished, I was shocked to find another 33 minutes in removed scenes, which according to TS can be treated as an addendum to the film although I'm not sure... There are some pretty out crazy things:

1) A cut action sequence where Pita's mother (forget her name) is in a bank or something which then gets robbed with full on street shoot out (not involving Creasey, although he's there).

2) Creasey and Pita's mother shag in a car after the above shoot out.

3) A load of random bollocks that should have indeed been cut.

4) Sex scene(s) with Pita's parents - shame to lose shots of that MILF in her undies, but hey...
Image

5) An alternate ending which was pretty much what I was wondering why it didn't happen - the "voice" takes Creasey back to his place for a glass of wine before putting a bullet in his head, but Creasey blows himself, the voice and his casa all to hell.

Her name is Rhada Mitchell, and yes she is a fox.
Try Cowboys and Angels - feel good movie or chick flick.

i watched it on friday :) bout 2am ish lol.

what i really liked in this film was the music score.. some deep thought/mood music in there. (except the nine inch nails shite!)

Basically the film for me (in a nutshell)

a beginning:

ex-cia officer on a road to nowhere and wanting to kill himself and has had enough, however, fate has it that this isn't going to be it and his mate sets him up with a job doing this bodyguard stuff, however she gets kidnapped and this kicks the initial story off and a sense you already know the character and you learn how he works from investigating, killing, making people talk and so on...Basically the attempted suicide bit right the the beginning is a force of fear on YOU but you don't realise it which makes it "thriller like" and trys to make u quickly learn about the character.

The middle:

finds out about corrupt people in the kidnapping, cuts people up to get info (tense) fucks shit up and causes problems.
Finds out that it's many people (gang) and from what i gathered the father and sets off on a journey to sort it all out.
The scene handing his gun out with 1 bullet in it for the guy to kill his-self? lol.. drama!
Finds out the girl maybe alive and starts to strike deals

Leading up to all the info is psychological abuse basically and mixed with the music score makes it quite tense for me, the story is always rock solid.

The end:

The girl gets saved, Aurelio dies, but daniel and aurelios wife live, i won't go into complete detail as other people have.

Thoughts:

Things i liked alot were how the video techniques were executed with using strobes, fear scenes, psychological abuse on you and the film itself, turning the tables on the man's family and not being forgiving about it.

Then ending with a what you can consider a "happy ending" because everyone ended up how they should.

But yeah, the thriller-excitment in this film was good i thought, i would like to see the deleted scenes perhaps.
Bad parts were some of the scenes were shit, where was the edit.
Didn't like a few actors in it, (personal taste)

Overall 7/10
+ bonus 1 for music

8/10!
