just been offline for ages its been dropping packets like god knows what.

ive just rebooted it loads, and now ive taken the faceplate splitter off and plugged everything into the diagnostic port behind and everything seems OK getting constant pings now of no loss at the moment.

hmmmm id be surprised if the faceplate splitter is going titsup, first time ive ever heard of that!. ill have to put it back in in a bit and test me theory

there were issues a couple of days ago with 10% packet loss for some users.
I think it's fixed now though.

indeed mate i remember astro posting a handy link. things got worse last night it was unusable.

faceplate splitter had nothing to do with it. tried the o2 wireless box and it was the same. spoke briefly to o2 and they said they wont do any tests on the line unless the o2 box is connected. which is utter bollocks.

i worked for as a computer engineer for 5 YEARS and ive never heard such shit in my life. they just dont want people using their own routers. well i tried to get the router working last night but guess what the routers fucked X(

anyway i switched my linksys off all night and come to check it this morning. so far so good everything SEEMs ok. but im in work 12 while 8 today so i have no time to do proper tests or sort it out with o2

one things for sure it highlights the fact how crippling packet loss can be for online gaming

right my o2 box is fucked as i may have mentioned before seems to be stuck in some boot loader mode i think from the diagnostic lights, some other peeps i know suggested using the o2 disc as it comes with a restore function. im not hopeful though if it needs a IP to work with one another its knackered because it wont hand out DHCP and a static IP wont work either

reckon its gonna need puttying or something like that.

gah ill look tomorrow. broadband *seems* stable at the minute, played a game of BF3 before i went to work no problems until ironically i was about to finish anyway and i lost connection to EA.....

old router is still running fine, tell ya, linksys stuff is ace.

spoke to o2 today and the router is FUBAR, but they are very kindly sending me the latest wireless box 5 for free, and also a prepaid envelope to send back the old one.... hmm, i was under the assumption i owned that. guess not, dont want it anyway its a pile of cack, far too restrictive. i know what they are doing anyway im not daft they will simply reflash it and fob it off as reconditioned

turns out someone else on o2 in my area had issues too, same exchange. far too coincidental but everything has settled down now anyway.
