Dave or Seddon and anyone else who has flashed their roms.
I could do with a guide for a first timer.
The problem is that XDA has a lot of info but not my kind.
1. What is s-off and recovery and why do I need them?
2. How do I actually flash? I'm currently downloading the latest LeeDroid Rom from LeeDroid's website.
3. Why do I need to do it? What features/advantages/benefits (F.A.B.) do I get over stock roms? Do I get and do I need Ice cream sandwich?
4. Theming... I'll get to that later once I have the above steps sorted.
5. HTC drivers, does anyone have a copy?

first you need to root your phone, then install rom manager, then copy your custom rom to the root of your sd card, reboot into recovery mode via rom manager, wipe your phone (backup your stuff first before wiping) and then install rom from sd card

Finally got leedroid installed, bit of a nightmare as my hboot was 1.49.0018 and not supported by anyone.
I eventually found a downgrade tutorial and it's up and running at last!
only took about 6 hours.
But was it worth it?
It's fast as fook sure, but for some reason I have to buy all my apps again? It lists the apps I've paid for and downloaded previously, but it forces me to pay for them again?

Yesterday, all my trouble seemed so far away.
Bollocks to that, yesterday I tried to get my dead blu-ray drive up and running using a donor drive, well it failed.
Part of the problem is that I couldn't remember which is the original and which was the donor, so I had to strip the drives twice.
no matter as neither worked and it was a hell of a job to do just once.
Ah well, worth a shot.
My advice, get a new PS3 or pay Sony £125 to get the old PS3 replaced.

Or.... don't sell your PS3 with a working BR drive and leave yourself with a hard disk only PS3 and a vow to only play PSN gamesDazbobaby wrote:My advice, get a new PS3 or pay Sony £125 to get the old PS3 replaced.

I know the donor drive was ok, but thats going back over two years ago. It came from a YLOD PS3 that I eventually had to throw out and replace.
It could be my mangled attempt are replacing the laser that did the damage.
Either way I gave up after 3 hours of fiddly work.
One thing I did fugure out... a blu-ray must be present in the system or games wont way, even PSN games. It tries to run, but the first black screen as all that happens.
