I fort this would be a interesting Topic.

This strung to mind with the Out Of Body experience and Sys quoting "hypnagogic jerk"

I find this a Interesting point, Because this has happened to me many times.
But something i Do notice when it happens, its normally in a dream and you Trip up or fall and you kinda Jump / Jerk in the motion.

So is your body moved to the action of your dream? or is this your dream moving to the motion of your body!

But lets look at something else.
If your dreaming then the surroundings of you is involved in the dream.
Noses, lighting, effects on your body.
If your dreaming and someone tickles your feet! this becomes part of your dream, But if your dreaming of walking in New York you dont just switch to a point where someone is tickling your feet.

I use this as an example as it has happened to me, but the dream involved a Full body massage, and my feet being massaged,
But in fact i was being tickled on my feet while i was asleep.

So is the brain already 10 steps ahead and set the scene for this action on your body?

Does anyone follow what am saying or do i sound crazy :-p
Or at least sort of understand what am trying to get across

Another Example i would give,
Is you walking...........

You See Light, its bounced of 2 surfaces before it reaches your eye,
Its then processed as a Upside down image and then inverted as it corsses the brain,
then the brain processes all the data and you see what you and smell and touch what you smell and touch,
Doing all this while walking yuor saying the brain does all this Instantly.....

Sorta follow where am going lol!!

I am unsure of the exact thing you are trying to say.
BUT......

Yes, i think the sub concious part of your brain knows what is going on at all times, for example, you know directions of sounds because your brain has already processed it before a decision is made, you don't need to activly think about it..

In dreams you are medically supposed to access a part of the brain you can't whilst awake, your brain can act out anything whilst you sleep, for example sleep walking is one thing you can do without any knowledge..

One thing we yet have not conquered, the brain.

ROFL:
REM sleep begins with signals from an area at the base of the brain called the pons (see figure 2 ). These signals travel to a brain region called the thalamus, which relays them to the cerebral cortex – the outer layer of the brain that is responsible for learning, thinking, and organizing information. The pons also sends signals that shut off neurons in the spinal cord, causing temporary paralysis of the limb muscles. If something interferes with this paralysis, people will begin to physically "act out" their dreams – a rare, dangerous problem called REM sleep behavior disorder. A person dreaming about a ball game, for example, may run headlong into furniture or blindly strike someone sleeping nearby while trying to catch a ball in the dream.

I have several re-occuring dreams, dreams that are always a week ahead of my symptopms.

You all or most of you know I suffer from depression, but usually a week before I get a bad bout, I dream of tornadoes or really amazingly bad thunderstorms, the worse the storm, the worse the depression.

Before my recent illness I dreamt I was being shrouded by millions of tiny black particles, my body tried to keep them off, but eventually they got in. A week later this illness starts. 5 months later and I'm still loosing about a stone a month.

Conversely, when I am going to be feeling good, I dream of New York and riding the elevators to greater and higher levels, again a few days later and I feel much better.

I think our subconcious mind can process things in ways we have yet to understand or even attempt to comprehend.

That i totally agree!!

But something else you touched on

Deja Vu!!

So we can subconscious see into the future.....
Or are brains are miles ahead (Say like 10 minutes)
But something you can see or Processed subconciousley leaks out to another part of the brain that processes it and when you see it you get the Deja Vu

hehe!!

Its a mind Bobling topic!! but interesting!

yeah deja vu what a weird thing, yet so simple for the brain lol.
Basically it sees the situation upto 10 seconds in advance then triggers what you see/feel giving the sensation you have "been there before".

I don't know anyone who hasn't had deja vu?

scientists say Deja Vu is a problem with memory mapping, your brain see's something as it's happening but mistakes it for a memory.

Personally my Deja Vu used to be very strong and highly accurate.
I knew what was going to happen and what people were going to say.

It's not as accute now as when I was a kid, but its still pretty good.

If I understand the OP correctly, you're talking about when dreams incorporate reality? So you dream about a train clacking over tracks say, and it blends into drilling some workers are doing outside your window? That kind of thing?

If that is what you mean, it's not that special - dreams occur in a fraction of time, but you don't notice they are hyper-accelerated. You can dream an entire lifetime in 2 seconds. So the brain has plenty of time to assimilate external influences.

Deja vu is supposedly when memory mapping goes a bit screwy as Daz said. Normally things go into short-term memory, then are later committed to long-term memory. But when deja vu occurs, it commits to long-term memory first, so you recall it as an old memory even though it only just happened.

No-one knows why we dream, but we do know that you have to do it. If you don't it leads to psychological problems. And if you stay awake too long, dreams will occur anyway, which makes you appear to be hallucinating. It's basically dreaming superimposed over an awake state.

The theory I subscribe to is that it is the brain basically sorting and purging all the information it has taken in since it last dreamt. Kind of like a shopkeeper cashing up at the end of the day. The brain takes in far more information than we're even aware of, so it makes sense that it needs to process it somehow.

States pretty much hit each nail on the head.

I recall going off after posting this and doing a load of sad research.

And Yes the reason we dream, is to process the data / events that have happened that day.

Deja vu is when it gets stores into a Long term memory,
Making you think you have seen it before.

But i suppose a argument against it all, is this is the most commonly known information available.
And its the selection we choose to believe in.

We can land a Man on the moon, and send an advanced Robot to Mars.
We can fly the sky and build pretty much anything that the minds sets it self on.

But we are yet to understand how our brains work.
We have a Small understanding. But not enough to say that anything we know is a actual statement or just theory.......
