Copy data off, Format and copy back on.
If your to get any program that you may THINK converts FAT32 Partition to a NTFS.
All it will do is copy the data to a Temp Directory, Format and copy back.
There is no way of doing this

thats the way I've done it, I know the old version of Ghost (before Norton fucked it up) used to do it on the fly. Partition magic also used to do it.
But ghost is shite and partition magic just copies the data like you said.

never come across that in my travels before id have to go with playing it safe, backup reformat
