Once thing that is a massive interest to me (Hobby even)
Is Space.

Space running from whats out there. How it began, Why its there. Atoms, Time, Light
And so on and so on.

Anyway over the past few months i have been renting a Hub online
One based in Canary Islands and the other in Chile.

Anyway here is a small handful of some of the images collected.

Some like Jupiter need Zooming in to see the Moons. (Them specs are not dust on your screen :P )

Each picture takes around 5 - 10 minutes to process.
So some of the picture that look like shooting stars show a trail behind them

The lines are created because while the camera is still, Earth is not. Each pic takes time to take too, it's not like a regular camera.

There are some excellent Celestrion telescopes out there, ranging for a couple of hundred to a few thousand pounds.
Computer controled for pinpoin accuracy. Couple that with a digital SLR and it's stargazer heaven.

Nice pics Dave.

The lines you see where due to the Telescope i was using the ultra-sensitive CCD was "blooming", which leaves those distinctive "tails" from bright stars. Usually these are eliminated during image processing,

I reported this and they where looking into it.

What Daz said is True, but that's with a Standard telescope / camera when you leave your shutter lens open.

If you get a Normal Camera. Get in on a Stand, point it up to the sky.
Set the shutter speed to something stupid!!!! 30 seconds or even an hour or 2 if you want a wicked effect.
and increase the exposure to get a good view.
and see the glare the starts leave behind.
Before you take the picture (a little tip i learnt)
Hold some paper over the lens, Push the capture button to take the picture, and then remove the paper.

This disabled the auto focus so it captures from what you would see from your eyes sort of.
No doing this sometimes gives you a gazy blurry picture.

That is pretty cool...reefer, plus clear night skies in the summer, plus countryside = win.

But the most important question is: can you look through chick's windows with it?

i love living in liverpool dont get me wrong i just wish light pollution wasnt such a bitch around here, there are no real wilderness places to escape from it, even on the horizon you get the lovely orange glow, nope the only place i can think of going to might be the middle of cheshire, wales or back home in yorkshireland.

mind you the campsite where we have a caravan on at bridlington has some excellent views of the night sky.

i could stare up for hours, minus the spliff, a nice pint of bitter and some hot dogs would do me :D

Its name is: NGC 6302
also called the Bug Nebula, Butterfly Nebula, or Caldwell 6
The spectrum of NGC 6302 shows that its central star is one of the hottest objects in the galaxy, with a surface temperature in excess of 200,000 K, implying that the star from which it formed must have been very large.
