that GCSE and A'level design and technology finally came in useful yesterday. ive been searching for ages for a tv stand that i can place on top of the chest of drawers in my bedroom that i can put my tv on top of and the dvd and digital box underneath, i posted on GC here some months ago if anyone had seen something like what i was after and put a crude paint sketch i got no replies but not to worry i kept searching and found nothing.

so in the end yesterday i bought a shelf from a shelving kit a length of wood, cut four blocks and got this

all in alll it cost me less than £5 to create, i still cant believe no one makes these, ah well it may not be anything special but im quite pleased with its effective simplicit im considering if any other strengthing maybe required but i dont think so, the tv is quite light. i can now watch spaced in bed, fried gold!

The stuff on there looks amazing. However I desperately need a round tuit.

Some things are like your shelf, simple. Somethings are much more complex.

But it's the fact that you do it yourself and they're functional.

I suppose I will make a start eventually, when I get a round tuit.

Around too it. Gedit?

I'm here all week.

IN regards to strengthening,

see my attached image.
Red is the screws.

Have you Flushed the screws or gone in at an angle from underneath?

The example on the right is a more sturdy structure.

screws have gone in from the top, one screw per leg, they are fairly long screws too 50mm, i will be flushing them at some point, just need the right toolbit for me drill, i probably have one around somewhere

i may add additional bracing but i think its not neccesary at this time but that would have been my thought too dave as per your diagram

LOL abbreviation fail. All you did was save a space and change a character. It's "to" not "too" :P

See Dave - it's not just you... :)
