What are your thoughts on both wikileaks and the devastatingly embarrasing information they have er... leaked?

Personally I think it's a good thing, but then again, I don't like big Government, I think the powers that be need to have their asses publicly kicked from time to time to keep them focused.
The old quote from Lord Acton: Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely rings true for both American, European and Asian Governments, but also for wikileaks.

On Friday Julian Assange, the owner of wikileaks told viewers in a video interview with the Guardian newspaper, that the site would release a very important decryption key, for a dangerous set of documents automatically, if anything happens to him, his friends and co-workers or the website.

Whats in this set of documents? Apparently the documents have been spread all over the world to many websites. The contents are believed to be relating to The Bank of America, Guantanamo bay prison, and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The contents of which are supposed to be damaging beyond belief, and so tightly encrypted that even the US military supercomputers will NOT break it. It's quite feasable too, with the type of paranoid circles Julian Assange will gravitate too, there will no doubt be some very good cryptologists. So now we know why the DoD bought hundreds of PS3's. All that parallel computing is just perfect for number crunching and data decryption.

So what do I mean about absolute power as far as wikileaks is concerned? Well, Julian Assange is on the Americas most wanted list, and just before the first leak 6 months ago, a warrant was placed for his arrest, so now he has the power to get away with sexual assault. Assuming the warrant and charges aren't bogus of course.

Anyway, back to the topic of the leaked documents, there's no doubt that a lot of the stuff being said has damaged (even slightly) Anglo-American relations, and well, pretty much American relations to the rest of the world. But thats what happens when one country see's it as their right to dominate and control everyone else.

Also PayPal recently cut wikileaks from it's system citing that they will not work with websites that promote lawbreaking.
"PayPal has permanently restricted the account used by WikiLeaks due to a violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, which states that our payment service cannot be used for any activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity," the statement said.
So paypal say it's illegal, therefore it must be. Ah well, like I really needed another reason to drop Ebay and paypal from my favourite websites.

You know what they say, fight fire with fire, and there's no smoke without fire. If Julian Assange did sexualy assault someone, then he deserves to stand trial, but will it be a fair trial? I seriously doubt. But given how a Government can start wars over nothing and better yet, blame someone else for it, then one man is nothing compared to an entire system of corruption.

Reason: Added the new wikileaks web address. They've been DDos'd so much recently they've had to move their servers several times.

you mean you haven't seen it before?
Thats so old news too.
They opened fire on gun carrying civilians in Iraq, saying that the pilot was being shot at, yet I've never seen footge of anyone shooting at the chopper.
2 western newspaper photographers and 2 children were killed while the pilot and gunner joked about it.

My idea behind the photographers is that they wanted to stage some photo's, and someone brought their kids along for the ride. Little did they know that they'd all be dead before the day was out.

wikileaks.org got removed from the usa dns..good luck trying to get to the .org site in the future lol.

anyways in regards to the leaked war documents and dodgy deals and similar..

Yeah this leak is good for everyone to see what is going on with all this fucking shit.
You only need to watch liveleak videos of apaches and war cams slaying innocent people with cameras or pens in there hands and claiming they had rpg's.

Full of fucking shit these government toss pots.
The sooner we see more info to show what the fuck is going on, the better i say!

Maybe people will start using there brains and not just suck up all the bullshit they hear on the news and from war generals in press confrences..

I read a document on something like 54,000 in total completly unrevoked.
Attacking shit like ssupermarkets and mosques, for fuck all.
Babies and kids getting slaughtered like a cow for sunday dinner.

I heard a very interesting take on Julian Assange last night on the Alex Jones show.
Alex jones and other people believe that J.A. is a CIA stooge, due to him (J.A.) having American military and US Government officials as friends, as well as mainstream media ties too.

You can hear the show here, no adverts and in it's entirety (where's my spell checker?).

Anyways, information is key to any action.
Bad information usually results in bad action.

But I think ALL information should be made public.

I think that if all the worlds leaders were followed 24/7 by a few press members, and everything was noted and printed, then government would end up doing whats best for that country, or better yet, whats best for the world, rather than whats best for them and their friends. There'd be no need for spying as everything would be public.

It maybe a naive idea, but there's little downside to it once people get used to working in public.
