this is NOT a report or comparison review.
I'm curious whether people think that anything can beat an apple product?
Since the first iPod came out, no one has cornered the PMP market like apple, then there was the iPhone, and while it's probably not the best phone out there, it is the No.1 selling phone and Apple the top selling phone manufacturer. Even the mighty Nokia have nothing to answer that.
Then of course Apple launched the iPad earlier this year.
But so did other manufacturers: HP, Toshiba (actually made one about 10 years ago), Acer, Archos and many many others.
All really went nowhere, and most were double the Apple price of £450 for an entry model, but almost all were much much more powerful, and all had flash built in.

So if the others had more options, more functionality, upgradability, and accessories, did they fail just because of the price point, or was it because of the app store?

I just can't fathom it, how are Apple able to maintain a market lead when their hardware and software are superceded? Some of the alternative even matched the price but demolished the iPad on specs, so what's going on?

Or is it because the first apple went on sale for $666.00?

Well the Galaxy Tab is due out, and it's £450, virtually the same as the iPad.
Time will tell.

Its really does swing some roundabouts.

Apple: OS made for thee Hardware.
Will you find every find something so stable..... Possibly not.

With the OS Based on its Hardware, they can get every little ounce of performance out of it.
You can get very good graphicaly Games and Very Large games, and it run perfectly smooth on there System.

You get the same thing to run on windows, i bet some machines will struggle to cope with it.

Anyway down to facts.

Ipad is a bit of a flop, Ok so you can browse the web and play some games and it has a bit more of a Bump in permormance.
it has a bigger screen and could be fun.
Apps are quick and Easy to access, there is no really interface (OS like Windows)
So accessing and closing down apps are quick easy and painless.

Other Pads:
We had a demo unit come to us (I forget the supplier)
But OMG!! Was it sexy!! Oh hell yes, It felt amazing.
it was pretty heavy, and you would be shit scared of dropping it.

But it was the full Windows 7 Operating system on it,
Dual Core, some good ram, Good battery life,
and Multi Touch support.
I was very very impressed, so much so the company ended up getting one for meetings and so on.


So a Normal Tablet.
More software, more usable, more freedom, your favourite windows apps, FTP etc etc etc apps.
Slower navigating through, slower closing and opening programs, But come on its a Full OS!!

Apple Ipad,
Locked down to Icons only, Very Fast navigation, super quick opening and closing apps.
You click on what you want no messing around.
Games high specd and performance.


Really two different things,

but in my honest opinion this Tablet we got to demo (that is on order "Prototype" )
I would pay more for that than the Apple Ipad.
But i would use it more for Work.
Web work etc so i would get my use out it if.

As for the ipad am a little locked down. almost the exact same thing as my iphone

Apple's falling out with Flash (Macromedia is it?) has hurt them badly on the iPad. But I just don't think there's a market for it to be honest. Especially at the moment with the recession.

It's essentially a luxury item and basically a pretty pointless half way house between a laptop and a multi-media phone.

I think it's only gadget freaks that simply must have the latest thing that are buying these things. Everyone else has either a laptop and/or phone that can do the same things, and can find a better use for the price of admission.

For people like us sure, but for numptys that buy off ebay it's the only thing their dumb fingers can operate, big buttons with big text.

OK so thats a little OTT, but for most people ipads are simple, quick and easy, and thats the major selling point. And people who want to shag Steve Jobs because they think he's the second coming... ie. Mac fans.
