Why not have community made map packs? Give away a map maker, run competitions constantly, pick and reward winners? It keeps the interest in the game high and players have a regular supply of quality DLC.
I'd like to see new maps on a regular basis, but quality is hard to find, or at least i used to be when I was a PC gamer. This would ensure HQ maps.
It would also mean that development on the next title could commence more quickly, and the map makers would'nt be torn between the new game and making new maps for the old game, all they'd do is tweak and correct community maps.

And when you have to pay the salary for someone to do that, it equals increased development costs. The same goes for code and art.

shame bfbc2 isn't like ut3

think of the skins we could use on atacama desert, i would be a storm trooper, dave a fairy, sy a ballerina and daz could be gollum, then what about custom maps, yeah some would be shite but some would be cool, if its a game you like i would be more prepared to put man hours in and design a map, i think we all would, devs are missing a trick

we want more custom generated content and the tools to create it!

Modnation Racers is now almost worth nothing second hand.

It seems that EA are not the only one's trying to play this game, ubisoft and Sony are at it too.
EA are doing it, and Ubisoft want to do it. But we didn’t think Sony would be doing it: charging for playing online with second hand copies of games – the latest title being ModNation Racers for the PSP.

In the latest PSN Store Update is this: “ModNation Racers – Online Entitlement (Download only if the in-pack Online Entitlement Voucher is missing, or is no longer valid from your retail copy) (£7.99/€9.99)”

Indeed, TSA regular jimmy-google has pointed out SCEE’s Mike Kebby’s comment on this: “The digital copy comes with the online entitlement packaged with it, the retail copy comes with a code inside. We offer this purely for people who buy a second-hand copy and would not get the code that allows them to play online.”

Looks like it’ll happen with more and more games down the line. “I couldn’t comment on other publishers, but I think it’s a safe assumption to believe we’ll see it happen more often yes,” said Kebby.

Brave new worlds.

I think £8 is a little big

Maybe £7 pushing it,
£6 OK
£5 Perfect

I understand where they are coming from, and if you get a game half the price and have to pay £8 its still cheaper than the game new...

Look at it this, 2nd hand game prices will drop too,

Its not all loose loose, a good step for future development and investments to online services (I would hope to see anyway)

But Dave, it's for the PSP version, how much online playtime is a PSP going to have?
PSP's are great if your on the move, but not for home gaming, and chances are if you are at home, you'll play it on the PS3, and if you're on the move, you wont be online.

Yer i was quoting more for the PS3 other than the PSP dont use the PSP so hey!!

But i would guess its gona be the same price for PSP if they bring it in,
And how this will work for Modded PSP's could be interesting if it can or will become overcome

That is true but the reason why I'm revisting this quote is simple.
If you buy the game second hand, and you have to pay to play online, and you have to pay for DLC too, when will their customers say enough is enough? It's basically a tax.
But my main point is this, as a second hand gamer, I'm more inclined to buy DLC and thus I'm still helping to contribute.

I also have a point about DLC. We know that many developers now create the DLC for a game while the game is in development. So why do we have to pay more for content that is "held back"? Often its actually on the game disc and when you purchase it, all you are doing is unlocking it with a 100kb download?

Yeah, but that drop will come off the money you get off the trade-in more than from the shops profits. Or shops will stop doing second hand altogether, publishers win, consumers lose.
