Dreams. Shit is crazy.

Hey guys, I know this is really random, but i needed to type it out because it is literally making me think like a mad man. During last nights sleep, i dreamt. But this was no ordinary "im falling!" or "My teeth are falling out" dream. (both of which are terrifying by the way). This was a vivid, full of characters, and a mix of emotions. Straight out of Inception or the Matrix.

In my dream, i had woken up from sleep only to realize that my friends were coming over to go swimming. When they arrived, these were friends that i have never met before in my life, but in my dream, i knew them like they were my best friends. I even had memories of them from previous times that we have hung out. I knew their names, birthdays, other family members. When I woke up, i was so amazed that my brain, that funny little organ that is 75% water, had created this alternate reality with fictional characters that had history with me. And what about those memories? Are they saved in my memory bank? Will i encounter this "friends" again, and have the same "Dream memories" waiting for me as a fall into a peaceful, relaxing slumber.

Kinda makes you think about people in a coma or some people that are in a vegetative state. Maybe the reason that they are still alive is that the brain takes over, and convinces the body that it is fine. Simply fabricating a false world, with false entities.

Thanks for reading my whole philosophical post. Has anyone ever experienced a extremely vivid dream like this?

I had a weird dream last night, I was literally fighting with my dad (died in 2003), he nearly beat me a few times, but I came back and eventually won.

I feel so guilty just thinking about it. My thoughts are that this could be a metaphor for an internal demon, and my dad being the strength to of the metaphor.

I still feel horrible for beating the shit out of my dad - even in a dream.

But yes the brain is a fascinating and amazingly complex.
I have an audiobook you can have, InfiniteStates downloaded it and enjoyed it I think.
David Eagleman - The Secret life of the brain.

I once tried guided meditation by communicating with the unconscious mind, and it makes me wonder if tapping this part of your psyche could be key to unlocking amazing advancements in emotional, psychological, educational/comprehension and physical well-being.

Yeah, that audio book was great Daz. Once you get over the annoying American author. There was one chapter that I found a bit dull, but otherwise some great insights in there.

I fell asleep on the sofa the other night and woke up when the news was on. I was dreaming that I needed to take over presenting one of the section and all the info was open in a browser tab, but I was frantically looking for it and couldn't find it.

Then I realised there was no way I would be asked to present the news so I realised it was a dream and the panic subsided...

What is quite interesting is that despite dreams feeling like they last hours, they are actually really short. You can dream an entire life time in 2 or 3 seconds.

Reading all this is depressing. I barely have dreams at all and when I have a dream it's at the later part of my sleep so the dream usually ends abruptly by waking up to have a piss. Then if I would go back to sleep there won't be time to get back into dream state.

Everyone has dreams. The trick is to wake up during them :)
