It's not Apple's failing, it's whichever fucktard approved the patent. I bet they're rolling around in the Apple HQ going "Man, I can't believe that shit worked!".

In the saga that is Apple Vs Samsung, I once saw an image of all the patents that Apple filed that other phone companies had ideas for years before but never patented.
The problem with patents: They stifle competition. All I have to do is come up with an idea, let's say for a car that runs on hydrogen fuel cells in a specific way, and wait until someone brings that to market then pounce.
Patents used to be a way of protecting your prototypes and products, now anyone can patent an idea and sue somebody who comes up with the same idea and markets a product. It's now counter productive.

The UK law is good tho. I don't believe apples patent would stand in the UK from what Kim tells me.
Its called Monopoly. If a patent stands that makes every company stay behind or stop them from progressing in the market because of it then its not valid.
An example a patent for a mobile communication device. That would be rejected in the UK as it stops all other company's / manufactures from progressing / making money. I.e. leaving them behind in the dark ages.
Am pretty sure its like that. Am sure Kim will come on an explain better than me

I remember seeing this ages ago and since you made this post Dave, I've been trying to find it again, so here it is.

Funny how the most successful companies steal from others
Microsoft did it to IBM and Apple, now Apple are doing it to everyone else.
