A spambot started an interesting thread? In the right forum? LOL monkeys and typewriters I guess...
I like the quote you get at the start of every new campaign on XCOM:
Arthur C Clarke wrote:Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

apart from the bad grammar, UFO = Aliens
a ufo is just that an unidentified flying object. i spotted one once, but through a bit of common sense and modern tech i discovered it was nothing more mundane than Jupiter.
just because its unidentified doesnt make it alien. do i believe in them? yeah course makes sense, billions of stars and billions of planets in our galaxy we cant just be one happy accident. the only problems with aliens is they maybe far to alien for human comprehension

If you don't believe in life outside of Earth you must be a fundamentalist zealot who thinks god created the earth in 7 days. It's almost statistically impossible for there NOT to be life out there in the vast universe.
Maybe they have already been here and observed us, and said "Fuck that" Honestly, i wouldn't want to come here if i was an alien. Our first instinct would be "The first encounter with extraterrestrial life! Lets kill it and cut it open to see how it works!"

I don't think the majority of the human race are that kind, they probably wouldn't kill it first.

I can't help but think those wackos who've been waiting for extraterrestrial life to come to earth will screw it all up. If I would land on some new planet and a bunch of creatures dressed as hobos would great me with over enthusiastic smiles and huge signs with wierd symbols, I would probably tell my boss to scorch that entire population.
Also, just thinking of it. This super advanced alien race would also most likely have a bunch of those paranoid fucks. Going all mental and sleep under their covers with a bed light on. Even though they'll have the power to zap us all with little to no effort.
I'd piss myself laughing if that Alien race would turn up to be less evolved and advanced than us. (Excluding Zerg/Alien type of Aliens, I'd probably still piss but not for the same reasons.)

It doesn't matter what the vast majority are like though. It just matters what the people with detection and capture capability are like.
