I've been thinking about this over the past couple of weeks, seeing as we're getting much closer to the dreaded date.

My thoughts are "what if"?

its all bollocks, people need to seperate the two things

the mayans made a calender, they didnt make it past 2012 in the gregorian calander nuff said

the shit thats going on now is societys own fault and nothing to do with native peoples of 1000s of years ago

what will happen is peoples mundane lives will carry on as normal and you will still have to do your christmas shopping

^ This. It's not the end of the world, just when their numbering system ran out. It's like trying to say that the world was going to end at the year 2000 because of the Y2K bug.

I don't disagree, but I asked What If....
What if enough people do think it'll happen and panic, this then causes a ripple in the financial markets, or society that could cause a crash or disruption big enough to be a problem.

I remember y2k and the problems that caused... nearly none at all. So this will probably make little or no impact. But this time we also have a financial system that's teetering on a cliff edge.

Or society that's ready to tear itself apart. (IMPO)
