Hauppage HD PVR

So i bought a brand new hauppage HD PVR (gaming edition).
Been talking about it for a while, just never had the spare cash :(

BUT.....i finally have one :D!!

Unfortunately though i bought a 'K chassis' Ps3 which only displays in SD through the component output.

watched a few videos on youtube and you can split the hdmi output and convert it into component that way, so i have purchased the extra parts for another £60.

Tried popping a few bits of footage into Sony Vegas Pro 10 but it was only coming out with sound and no video :/.....any help??

Just whipped up a quick video with the software included with the PVR as i had an itch to make something.....enjoy!

Sorry Chris, the only way you'll be able to record HD properly is with a HD Fury 2 (or maybe 3).
thats another £150+

The benefit is that ANY HDMI source can then be captured.

Youtube can go a LOT higher, even higher than 1080p :P
But of course you can only capture at 720p.

Also dont bother with 1080i, youtube freaks out and makes a mess of interlaced video.

chris, please take a clear photo of the back of your ps3 please.
if you have a av video slot, you can record in HD - please get back to this thread with a nice clear photo of the back of your ps3.

i am currently running through the AV output slot on the ps3.
but due to the revision of the ps3 'K chassis' model it only displays in SD.

so you can't buy this, which are component and not composite.. and then plug it into the tv?
or you can't buy this and split it into hdmi with this?

There is no reason it shouldn't work for games, you are using component and not the SD cables that come with it right?

i have the same ps3 all you need is this ..post me a pic of the cables from your ps3 to the hd pvr. :-bd

yeah Chris, all you need are the official component cables @ £15
They'll get you up to HD standards.

yeah ive ordered the Neet converter and a hdmi splitter as it was the cheapest option tbh. (should be with me between tuesday & friday next week)

i have the component cables which come with the gaming edition PVR currently installed, but i doubt anymore recording will be done till its in HD.

when it all comes through ill record a video on my iphone and show you the setup and mess of wires ;)
