"It's not a matter of if, but when."
General Eugene Habiger USAF Ret. Former Commander in Chief USA Strategic Command.

300 million Americans live day to day, ignorant of what could happen, and ignorant of how people used to survive in the dark ages. Disease, famine, pestilence, plague, waring villiages and rampant cannibalism.

What if someone attacked America with nuclear bombs, but instead of the conventional use bomb blast that causes devestation and destruction, what if those bombs were air burst in the high atmosphere and caused a massive EMP, and EMP blast so large it destroyed everything electronic in America?

This is the story of such an attack and the lives devestated by it. This is the story of an American small town and it's inhabitants. The trial by fire of what would happen if all systems broke down at once.
No food, pharmacy, no fire fighting equipment, no aeroplanes, no cars, no tractors to plough fields, all they are left with are their witts, guns, and a good leader.

I downloaded this last night from the iTunes store, started listening to it and was gripped immediately, so much so that it was 8am when I got to sleep this morning with 4 hours left remaining.
I've finished it now, all but the afterword to listen too.

It's an amazing book and a fascinating subject, similar to Stephen Kings - The Last Stand, another book about Armageddon and Good vs Evil.

recommended!
