Yep I've rented a 16 man PC Server for BF3

The game was made for PC and it's 100x better on the PC.

Daz, how come you're selling your PS3 cos you need cash, yet renting a PC server that very few of us will use? Obviously you can do what you want, but seems a bit contradictory and/or crazy...

I dont think I'll need to sell my PS3 now.
I'm still frustrated by BF3 and other things besides. But I needed the cash urgently for my own appartment, which probably wont come off now.

The server is only £17.00 unbranded, and I get to play the game I want the way I want.

I've also only paid for 1 month, after the first month I'll decide if I want to stop or continue - money provided of course.

Just my $0.02, but if you're having to sell stuff (non-sustainable income) to pay for a regular out-going, it's probably not wise to take on that out-going in the first place...

The problem is upfront money.
I need £850 for first months rent, bond, and setup fee.

Like I said it's not likely to happen now anyway. Hence renting a server for a month.

if there was a server which we could host and run ps3 games off which i realise we cant id quite happily put some money in for the upkeep. but since its only for PC at the minute its a bit of a let down.

I'd be more than willing to help pay for a PS3 server too, as would most others I think.
But it's just not happening

I don't think renting own server can fix the amount of frustration that BF3 is.

you can't be that frustrated as you playing enough of the game as it is!

im afraid i cant be bothered with PC gaming anymore its expensive, frustrating (when your PC has issues) and for me impractical as my PC is at my desk upstairs and i cant play with keyboards or mice. not only that the element of snobbery PC players (i dont include any of you lot in this) have brought to it has put me off.

time was i used to play games on my PC and PS1 and 2 now its too much hard work

Fuck the knowledge/research required to stay on the cutting edge.
Fuck installation instructions that never go as planned.
Fuck inconsistent performance among players.
Fuck running out of mouse mat.
Fuck RSI.
Fuck back-ache.
Fuck custom servers with gay admins.
Fuck crappy half-assed friend systems.
Fuck PC.

I'll gladly sacrifice a few DPI or FPS for the convenience and normalisation of console gaming. Sure, the reduced player count hurts a bit, but I tend to prefer the smaller, less cluster-fucked games anyway. So, yeah...
