I'm sure both have their own merits, but a simple vote will suffice.

for gameplay mechanics.. bfbc2. (weapons, squad system, vehicles).
For map design, depth and good balanced multiplayer i'd say bfbc1.

I do prefer the bfbc 1 helis, but at the same time i prefer the up to date vehicles of the new one.

to pick i'd have to say overall BFBC 1.

I stared at this poll for ages - then noticed the "both" option

The maps are better on 1 IMO, but 2 has more choices for modes (I quite like squad modes and that co-op vs AI mode).

I do like Oasis and Harvest Day maps in BC2 but I think I prefer BC1 because we played that one together almost exclusively.

If only BC2 game engine could be transplanted into BC1 then I think it'd be damn near perfect.

i have to be harsh and say BC2, thats not to say BC1 wasnt bad it was good, its what pulled me into the Battlefield series, i found that BC2 just helped to refine what had come before, having gone back and played BC1 a few times i think wow weve come a long way baby!

Bad Company 1 will always have excellent maps, but i think BC2 just rolls them up better

In terms of audio, video, and team squad BFBC2 is better, but i still prefer BFBC1. The things that i like the most with BFBC1 is the simplicity of the gameplay, knife combat, plus the rag doll movements and flying corpse which always gave me a good laugh everytime i played it. Not to mention the spawn rape, base rape, chopper rape, knife duel, flying/smashing of controllers, flying/smashing disc and the inevitable cursing everytime we got knife and had a very bay day, hahaha . This is also the game that brought us here and led to the creation of Mess-Hall, thats why BFBC1 will always be forever on my top list of PS3 games

It still renders the text invisible on whichever option you chose though...

i picked they all rock BUT at this point in time i found BFBC2 more fun, the soldiers shouting and swearing "IM FUCKING DYING" wookie slashing vehicle launching chopper raping this feels more serious

but its early days yet. maybe when Bad company 3 comes out it will be different

BF3 is BC3 but for marketing purposes they lied to get as many people as they could on board so they called it a true BF2 sequel to get all PC noobs on board. What can they possibly offer more? Jets, check, helis check, tanks check. Intergalactic aliens and dinosaurs?

Well BF3's primary market was PC players.....hence what it was built for. whereas the badcompany series core focus was consoles.
