The hit list is a list of recent movies we've seen that we rate as being good and worth at least a look.
Firstly some simple rules:
1. you must have seen the film in the past week
2. you must include a link from
http://www.imdb.com or
http://www.rottentomatoes.com to the movie, and a brief synopsis.
3. you must be able to recommend it to everyone
The film can be any age, recent or old, English or foreign, and any genre, it doesn't matter
I'll go first.

A down and out cynical detective teams up with a down and out ex-quarterback to try and solve a murder case involving a pro football team and a politician.
I must've been around 20/21 when I first saw this movie, and despite it's age (20 years old) it's still funny and very politically incorrect. It's the old fashioned Bruce Willis at his best.
definitely worth a look if you haven't seen it, or worth another look if you've not seen it in a while.

Nice topic
Might be an idea to sticky, as even if it doesn't stay current, it will be good to find when opportunity arises.
Of course, Dave's voracious appetite for films may just keep it naturally bumped...
P.S: delete this post as and when

A mining ship, investigating a suspected SOS, lands on a distant planet. The crew discovers some strange creatures and investigates.
Another golden oldie, but this is by far the best of all the Alien movies, if not one of the best movies of ALL time. Aliens comes a close second! IMHO.
Just the theme music alone still sends chills down my back.
The directors cut adds around 12 minutes of never before seen footage and does add to the film, but the original theatrical version still works of course.
Worth a watch? Hell yes!

and he is making a remake or a prequel i think

Aliens damn good series of films, each one was so different yet entertaining, "they don't make it like that anymore" as the saying goes.

I think he is - is it called Prometheus? The seems to be most likely, but not concrete,
on IMDB.
The Scott brothers can do no wrong IMO. Except that Hovis ad which is dull as fuck.

The good news is that the prequel IS currently being filmed, and is set for a release sometime next year.
Yes is called Prometheus, and yes Ridley Scott is directing it... problably one of the most anticipated sequels in history.

yup that is the one, orginally so i read in the paper it was going to be titled alienz or something but the publisher moaned about the franchise and had it changed or summit, but still based on an alien myth or something along those lines.

Did you know that Sigourny Weaver owns all the rights to all the Alien movies... nothing gets done without her consent.

If she green lit Aliens 3 and 4, she can hardly say no to Ridders doing a prequel...

On first viewing I didn't like this film too much, it was the part when Richard goes nuts that did it for me, but it was one of the few early DVD's I had, so I had to watch it again, and again, and second time around it was much clearer why he lost it.
surprisingly even though it's now ten years old it's not aged, and it's still worth another viewing. Even the sound track is excellent.

I like it, it's a cross between
Poltergeist and
Paranormal Activity, while some people might not like Paranormal activity, I think it's great, and this combination works very well together.
It did initially take 2 attempts to watch this film, and I wish I'd have been able to watch it in one sitting, but amazingly it still worked. It's definitely a fresh take on the "haunted house" theme and worth a look.
Poltergeist trivia:
Heather O'Rourke, who played the little girl Carol-Anne, and Dominique Dunne, who played the teenage daughter, are buried in the same cemetery: Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Dunne was strangled into brain-death by her boyfriend in 1982, the year of the film's release. Six years later, O'Rourke died of intestinal stenosis.

Yeah that girl who played in poltergeist said she was haunted and also alot of film crew became ill during the making of those films.. strange.
As for insidious - something i need to watch.

A writer discovers a top-secret drug which bestows him with super human abilities.
Now dont go thinking this is a superman type movies, it's not.
The drug of choice is called NZT, and it doesn't help you to fly or get high, it makes you intelligent, so intelligent you make Einstein look like a 2year old just learning to speak.
Now personally for me, this would be THE ULTIMATE high, nothing could come close. Imagine being able to speak a foreign language, any language, and within a day?
Or compute maths so you could make millions on the stock exchange, or just win virtually every hand of poker.
This movie is about a drug that makes it possible and it's a belter.

Into the Wild
After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.
Not feeling to cracky today, so I just wanted to chill and watch a decent movie, and this was perfect in every way imaginable.
I suppose it's every lads dream at some point in their life to live in the wilderness, not many do it, not many succeed. Alexander Supertamp - self titled alias of Christopher, lived the dream.
The story is a backwards and forwards affair, not in a confusing way, but just right, and tells the tale of how Alexander Supertamp got to his dream, the people he met the friends he made and the odd beating he had to endure. But he NEVER once gave up on it.
It's not often I buy movies these days, but this is one I've ordered because I loved it that much.
Probably a movie not for everyone, and I downloaded it months ago, but only finally got around to watching... I think I was waiting for today to start watching it. It sounded good, just never struck me as the right time until now.
