And it wont cost you $100 or more for an adapter. This one is free!
Development has been progessing quite nicely on [Matlo's] PlayStation 3 controller spoofing project. This is a package that allows you to identify a PC as a PS3 controller. We know what you’re thinking: why would you want to do that? When we originally looked in on the project about a year ago we mentioned that this allows you to use any Linux-friendly peripheral as a PS3 controller. In the clip embedded below you’ll see that nothing beats a good keyboard and gaming mouse when it comes to first-person shooters. [Matlo's] solution not only allows you to use alternative control hardware, but there’s almost unlimited configurability.

And speaking of configuration, he’s done a ton of work on the GUI. After the initial package installation no terminal typing needs to be done to get the system configured. Once in place, you can set the MAC address of a Bluetooth dongle to spoof the address of your SixAxis controller. From there you can set up the button mapping, calibrate mouse hardware and the like, and even program macros (fantastic). Now go out and pwn everyone at deathmatch now that the PlayStation Network is back up and running.

Come on guys, whats so wrong with a keyboard and mouse?
In all honesty, I prefer the joypad now, but when I first got my PS3 I could not get used to it, it took me ages.

Are you worried that someone will have an advantage over you? If so, then this is something you could do.

Still it requires linux, and that means not many people will ever really use this.

yeah because a joystick is supported in game :P
A keyboard isn't, apart from resistance 1 and a screenshot print screen button lol.

What i am saying is... i have a pc - a good one, which i play games on with k&m - but i play console with a controller since its native on both pc k&m and controller console.

For example C&C on the ps3 works great with a control pad, a game which is famous for K&M.
I don't know how u would get radial menus to work on a keyboard with that game since you'd have to hold a button on the keyboard to access any options.

what i am saying is doesn't having the k&m on console defeat the point of the lazy control pad setup? sitting down/lying down on a couch playing. :))

Very true, but my setup is on a desk.
It's not that i'd even use this programme, it's just nice to have the option. That to me is more important.

A joystick for flying games, like a steering wheel for driving games, enhances the immersion because it is a replication of the real control device.

But I doubt there are soldiers running around in Iraq with keyboards and mice tucked in their backpacks :)
