I've found a way around it.
Watched first 20 minutes of Battle LA, then first 20 minutes of Silent Hill, went back to BLA, watched another 20 mins, then back to SH and so on and so forth!
Easy. Watch 2 films.

How the fuck did you get 20 minutes out of it!!
Last time i attempted i got no more than 2 Minutes.
Cinavia works via the detection of a watermark recorded into the analog audio of media such as theatrical films and Blu-ray discs. The watermark is able to survive recording through microphones (such as recording a film in a movie theater with a camcorder), as well as compression and encoding, yet still be imperceptible to human hearing. Verance claims that the presence of the watermark does not affect audio quality.[2]

When media with the watermark is played back on a system with Cinavia detection, its firmware will detect the watermark and check that the device on which it is being played is authorized for that watermark. If the device is not authorized (such as not being an authorized movie projector in the case of a cam bootleg, or not utilizing AACS in the case of a copy of a commercial Blu-Ray disc or CSS in the case of a copy of a commercial DVD), a message is displayed (either immediately or after a set duration) stating that the media is not authorized for playback on the device and that users should visit the Cinavia web page for more information. Depending on the device and firmware, once the message is triggered, the audio may be muted, or playback may stop entirely.

I am currently up to 40 minutes on Battle LA. Hmmm, wonder if I can use MKV2VOB to split into 20 minute chunks!

I heard somewhere if it was under X time or size then you could continue to watch it....
If it was size imaging a 10gb file being split up into tiny chunks

Sounds like you could get around it with CFW for your player? Whatever Dave quoted implies it's the job of the firmware to interpret the signal and act accordingly. Even if the CFW doesn't disable the checks entirely, maybe it can spoof the version to be valid?

strange, I read somewhere in the past couple of days that it's a problem. It was on a movie forum and nothing to do with the PS3, so it might be the player they used?
Eitherway I still have the 3D version on bluray.
