My old ride (SV650s)

It's that time of year again when I pine for a bike... and I dig out some pictures of my old bike.
Here she is, not in all her glory, it was winter and there was a bit of salt on the road, so she's a mucky biatch.

The following spring I upgraded her bits, new shock, new underseat tray (yellow), carbon fibre rear hugger (fits over the rear tyre very snugly and prevents dirt getting on the shock absorber spring, got rid of the passenger seat and put a cowling on, a new yellow case chain, and she was mint!

Sadly I never took a picture of her when whe was all dolled up for a night on the town, but take my word for it, she was a stunner.

It (Suzuki SV650s) was my first big bike, and to be honest, I was a bit intimidated by it, but there was no need. It's a budget big bike, but it doesn't ride like one, steady as a rock, and for new people it was an excellent introduction to fast riding. Happy at 30mph pottering around town, and 130+ on the motorway. It was this bike that allowed me to get my knee down! Something that scares you shitless the first couple of times you do it, but after that... fucking bliss when you get a fast corner just right.
In fact it's been such a popular bike for suzuki that it spawned several redesigns and colour changes, and a bigger brother - SV1000. The SV1000 was based on a the TL1000 engine, a complete nutter of an engine too but slightly detuned for the SV thou'

If I had the cash, I'd been down the bike shop tomorrow and buying a new one.

Im not a fan of sports bikes, i prefer a big fat lazy bike like Harley, having said that ive never ridden a bike, probably never will, call me a coward but four wheels and a metal shell around me will do just nicely :D

nice looker though daz

@Pud, bikes are not for everyone, but it's in my blood and nothing will ever change my desire to ride.

@Seddon, unlucky m8e, I got caught doing 70 in a 30 riding this lady, I did get lucky, the cop was a biker too and let me off with 4 points and a fine.

I miss them very much.
especailly in hot weather.

I came off the r6 once in a carpark, braked normal but skidded on some leaves on a sunday morning and caused some paintwork problems - but apart from that never really had many issues.

i like my tunes too, hence once i was on my bike and had earphones on, i know bad idea.. even worse when i stopped at a traffic light junction to turn in for some petrol, i could hear a faint, woo, woo noise.. after about 1 minute i checked my mirror and saw a ambulance behind me........... i felt a right cunt, needless to say i never put tunes on again.

It's also funny going fast and you can hear "tap, tap, tap" on the front of your biking gear and it's the flys and stuff hitting your visor :)

I also got caught in a nasty rain downfall, soaked wasn't the word, all over my clothes for work, lol. (on my scooter not long after my test).
Also the scooter conke dout with being so wet, sounded like a underwater hairdryer.

Nice ride Sy, didn't you have the nuts for the R1?
R1=suicide machine. Fast Bikes once said: "A fool and his R1 are soon parted".
That said I used to go riding with mates upto the lake district, R1's R6's Ninja 600's, 636's Gixxer 600, gixxer 750's... and on the straights I couldn't touch them, but I had the edge on the bends being a lighter, narrower, and V-Twin instead of inline 4Cyl, I could get the power on sooner too, so in the corners I'd thrash 'em.

And so easily done.
I was just finishing my ride along the snake pass, almost in manchester and a wagon pulled out in front of me, so I grabbed a handfull of throttle to get around him quickly.... and there was a cop 300 yards down the road.

This thing got me to 100mph in less than 6 seconds.

Not necessarily - there are some silly 30s out there. Like the A12 through the middle of London - raised dual carriage way, but 30 mph? Fuck off.
