Yes today actually has OTHER news.
A leaked memo from Activision has revealed that there is some worry in the camp that Call of Duty may eventually die off like Guitar Hero. However, a senior executive notes that the key to ensuring a long life for Call of Duty is QUALITY. The memo suggested that the future of the title is still very much in Actvision's hands and they need to make sure that the quality bar is consistently raised.

Personally I hope it keeps going, keeps the arseholes off Battlefield.

I couldn't agree more, but CoD is an arcade style shooter, and there's only so much life in that kind of franchise.
Sure CoD 4 shook everyone up for a bit, but WaW, MW2 and Black ops are just upgrades and not reinventions or innovations. It's just more of the same with a new skin, theme and perks.

once rage is released by id, expect a cod game using the licenced rage engine, then we gonna get vehicles, bigger maps etc, but it gonna be all to late!

Lets see what rage can do first, trailers are all well and good, but we all know how a trailer can look good but the game is appalling...
Haze anyone?

Haze was obviously shit from the demo. Rage will undoubtably be good as it's Id, but I'm dubious about racing only online.
Activision need to stop ripping off their loyal fan base with overpriced map packs. People will keep buying CoD, but the higher than average price tag for the main game and DLC will kill it quick.
Greed and arrogance are fast routes to failure. They don't need to necessarily innovate - just not milk it so hard. They should probably just release it once every two years.
Mind you, it'll effectively be a new team taking over from IW so there may be some freshness injected there...
