Something significant happened?

Sept 11 2001

I was at work (PCWorld), one of the lads from the stock room came over and told us a plane had crashed into the first tower, then a few minutes later he came back and told us another plane had hit the other tower and the first thoughts were terrorism.

We tried to get on the BBC news website, but by this time it was getting hammered, so we gave up on the internet, grabbed the TV from the training room and plugged it into the only place that had an ariel socket... the tech dept (my bench actually). There we watched every shocking scene, soon the entire sales team and management team came over to watch. Within the hour they weren't needed, the store was empty, and we only had a handful uf customers for the rest of the day.

Some people even cried, especially when you could see people jumping from the windows. But no one turned away.

So where were you and how did you see it?

I'll also leave you with this, on this day in history:

1993 - The Branch-Davidian’s compound in Waco, TX, burned to the ground. It was the end of a 51-day standoff between the cult and U.S. federal agents. 86 people were killed including 17 children. Nine of the Branch Davidians escaped the fire.

I was working at my first job in game development. Some of the guys listened to the radio as they worked and heard about the first plane, so we were all stood round watching it on TV when the second one hit...

No matter what you're beliefs are (terrorism or Government propoganda), it was still a bad day.

At least the drive home was quiet.

I was driving back home and heard it on the radio, at first i thought oh it will be a little cessena or something like that, i did in my mind downplay the seriousness of it, that was until i got home and turned on the news. i watched mesmorised in horror as it unfolded and then was even more shocked when the seconed plane hit, i texted one of my friends a simple message

"you watching this?"
his reply was "you are fucking kidding me this isnt real" i was quite glued to the tv for the rest of the day.

i cant remember many other significant events other than the 7/7 bombing in london, i was working in a housing association as their IT guy at that point in time, i was the first to hear about it and passed the news around, during the even being in liverpool city centre we heard Police cars screaming about everywhere i even thought it was like a mass attack.
