I was try to think of any good games that were made to tie-in with a movie, and for the life in me I can't think of many, not that the list is huge anyway.
This is what I came up with:
1. Batman Arkham Asylum
2. Dune II - Tenuous I know
3. Avatat - Crap but in 3D is supposed to be excellent.
and thats about it.
Can you name any decent tie-ins?

Eh? You're looking for good game-from-a-film game? I'm pretty sure Arkham Asylum has nothing to do with the films...
Going the other way, I like the Resident Evil films, but I hate the games. Go figure.
There were a few on PS2...Black Hawk Down, The Thing, Scarface: The World Is Yours. I'm sure there is at least one on PS3, the it's escaping me at the moment.
Oh - the Wolverine game is pretty decent. God of War type affair.

to be a little pedantic Arkham Asylum isnt a movie tie in BUT ill give it its due its a good tie in with a Multimedia character like batman who exists in more than just the comic books now
i only ever remember mostly star wars games being good at it specifically
Original Star Wars arcade game
Super star wars (snes)
X-wing series ESPECIALLY TIE FIGHTER (woot)
Dark Forces
the dune games or the PC ones certainly were good

^ What he said - plus Rogue Squadron on the N64 was fucking awesome. I got all golds on that, which if you played it will realise that I was getting platinums before they were invented lol.
Alien Versus Predator is pretty good, but kind of cheating. I guess that's a game drawing on two awesome films, which then in turn spawned two shite films.

I'm not and never have been a comic book fan, so for me Batman has always been about movies, I completely forgot that he is originaly a comic book character.
Goldeneye on the N64 was rockin'
At the same time, there have been some real stinkers of Star Wars games.
My point is that there are'nt any where near as many good tie-ins as there are bad ones, it's just trying to name the good ones.

There never will be for two reasons...
1) Movie tie-ins are a cheap attempt to cash in on existing marketing/hype. The schedule doesn't allow for the part of the development process that differentiates between a working game and a good game. The titles I listed (and Goldeneye - good shout, by the way) were all made
after the films were proven successes.
2) What makes a good film and what makes a good game are two very different things. Games simply set within the universe of a film are getting off on a much better foot than games that try to make a playable version of a film.

when someone loves the IP when someone really cares about it, strokes it gently reads it bed time stories and pays fan service then you get great games like Arkham Asylum and to a lesser extent war for cybertron.
