Why OtherOS Was Realy Removed

So people say its because of the Security breach Sony removed the other OS.

But another story has come to alight. is it true.
The Amended Complaint claims that Sony Computer Entertainment America didn’t remove OtherOS functionality due to security concerns. It had other options, if security had been the real issue. It was done, they claim, for financial reasons, and that Sony’s justification for the removal of Linux functionality was “false”, chosen so Sony could rely on the wording of various terms. They also point a finger at IBM, claiming that possibly IBM was not happy about the military using PS3s for clustering, instead of buying IBM Blades servers:

Now am not being funny, but why the fuck with the Military use the PS3 as a fucking cluster server.

A Unreliable console that dies at any given time!
A limited Function in OS with next to no performance and the most basic hardware specs possible.

For the amount spent on each console! wtf not just pay for cluster servers, its Bullshit!!

Or really the Yanks are really that fucked up!

LOL that looks like PS3 critical mass is about to be reached... that's got over-heating written all over it.

I'm pretty sure Sony are within their rights to remove other OS, whether we like it or not?

Not according to Trading standards, the European Courts and the huge amount of people in the USA suing (and winning).

Personally I never really used it much, so it didn't bother me.

To be fair, suing and winning in the USA isn't particularly proof that your argument is just :)

Surely if Sony offered a refund to anyone who wanted to return their PS3 due to lack of other OS, they would cover themselves. It might sting a bit if the US military bring back all theirs however...

But why would they when they can now task them to training grunts with CoD? :)

Don't joke, if they can... they will.

That's a nice double-punch to US fanboys:
Not only can you offend their console zealotry, you can also rub their patriotic grain the wrong way by pointing out the US military's implementation of Japanese hardware LMAO.
