Old PS3 Repair Question

As some of you may remember my Launch model 60gb died on me about a year ago. So at the time since I was going out to purchase a new slim as a direct replacement I thought I'd give the now broken one to my sister to get it fixed so my little nephew could use it.

The benefit being I get a new PS3 my old one stays in use and when fixed I get my game saves off it without spending money to get it fixed and a buying a new ps3 too. (hey like you guys wouldn't have ;) )

So anyway time passes and she still has it not even getting it fixed infamous 2 gets revealed with benefits for people who completed infamous 1 (or something along those lines) so I'm like shit I need to get my infamous gamesaves off my old PS3 to my horror my sister let my 8-10 year old (I know I'm a horrible Uncle for not knowing his age :)) ) nephew open it up losing a part of the case and losing the screws meaning the top of the ps3 is unsecured along with the drive.

Needless to say I'm pretty pissed because now my cost to get it fixed just shot up. :(

I know a local shop in the city centre that does repairs what are the chances of getting the cost off-set by selling it to them for parts after they fix it to get my saves? :-?

the problem with launch models is people know they're unreliable now.

You can do the repair yourself and get the game saves, or spend the money and sell it on ebay, but dont expect a good price from ebay, and dont expect it to last more than a month before it dies again.

Like I said I just need it repaired long enough to get the game saves.

I feel I have been so lucky with my launch 60gb. The old girl is still going strong, and now with cloud save, it pretty much doesn't matter if it dies (other than the inconvenience of getting it replaced).

Repair it yourself.
You still get a around 3 - 4 months use out of it before it dies again.

Heat Gun and some High Thermal Heat Compound.

You heat X points on the board to for the solder to melt and seal the hair line cracks.

and the High Thermal Compound will work well with the temperatures the console reaches.

Once you have repaired it once, you will not be so lucky the second time! well that was the case with me anyway

I don't need it though I already have a slim remember hence why after I get the saves I'm wanting to sell it to the shop for parts to off-set the repair cost.

Repair it, Get your Saves Box it up and sell it on Ebay
£80 Min to £110

Label it YLOD Repair,
No Return No Refund!!
No Hassle!!

You will get more for it than spares of a company!
And you will get your Saves from it, I dont know of a company that would go to the trouble to attempt to get your saved data of it!!
But i may be incorrect
