Well PS3 Firmware 3.60 is now live. The biggest update added was a Cloud Storage System, allowing you to save your save games online. However this feature is only for Playstation Plus members (for now). You can read more about the Cloud Storage system HERE. The new firmware also brings a better management for the powering of your PS3 controllers, allowing you to control the time they stay on via XMB options.
Just a few months too f*cking late sony!!!!!
(Sorry if you recall i got a YLOD and lost all my saved game data!!!!)
This feature or a feature to backup saved games should of been added a long time ago!!!

I know the feeling, I lost my Motorstorm Pacific Rift save game (copy Protected) that was around 90% complete.
And a lot more.
The backup facility is only any good IF you restore to the same PS3, it's completely useless to try and restore to another PS3.
Also the data transfer fails if there is any corruption of any kind, so if you have 1 corrupt save, it will end the transfer and not even tell you what file is damaged or try to skip it.
You have to manually go through everything non essential, delete it, and try again... rinse and repeat until you say fuck it! and give up.

I uploaded quite a few that I would be pissed to lose. There are a lot I didn't bother with though.

SO the question i would ask.
Is this is for PNS Plus members only.
So if i backup all my Saves, and then decide to not to continue my subscription,
Will they clear my saves? or can i take the PSN Plus out again when i replace my ps3

to restore backups

Hmmm...good question. If they have any sense, they'll erase unsubbed storage, but that requires a modicum of efficiency. So you might be all right
In other news, supposedly the 3.60 update (ironic version number?) also re-secures the PS3, although I think you can still go online with CFW, so it's probably moot.
The PS3's latest firmware does more than bring cloud saves to Sony's console, if reports are to be believed; it also re-secures the PS3 against the hacks that have blighted it in recent months.
According to hacker Youness Alaoui (as reported by Digital Foundry) firmware 3.60 introduces a new security system for the console that counters against the recent hacks.
"For now, it looks to me (at first glance) that the PS3 has been re-secured", said Alaoui on his Twitter account, "but it doesn't mean it can't be broken again from scratch."
Notorious hacker George Hotz was at the forefront of the hacks back in January, and since then Sony has pursued him and those using the crack with force, and at one point was rumoured to be developing a hack-proof console.

Ill believe the security when i see it
I know people can still access the PSN on a hacked console now!
Maybe that will change intime, but who knows!! nothing is secure no more lol

Now lets all be honest here we all know that even this small amount of storage multiplied by a couple of million is costing quite a lot of $ and the fact of the matter is PS+ users are the only fee paying users.
So for the foreseeable future possibly permanently I'd see this stay ps+ exclusive unless sony gets some sort of mega cut price bandwidth and storage deal.
Sony is a business at the end of the day they are here to make money to lose it.

Sorry i know its for PSN+ members only!!
The message i was trying to get across was if you stop your subscription then sign back up like 6 months later, what happens to your saves!
Are they cleared down or kept
If its kept i could not mind signing up for backing up my saves then coming back to it later
Then again i have no bloody saved data no more!! as PS3 died.
And then again i dont play single players much so i would not have Saved.
I was just really pissed i lost my x2 100% completed saves for Demon Souls!!!!
Need for Speed!!!! and Grand Turismo,

I'd assume they'd be put in cold storage since the data is tied to the account and put back on whenever you re-sub I mean once the inital transfer of your saves are up there is no more bandwidth costs for your account becuase you aren't using it so it costs sony nothing to keep.
