Since Currys dont like customers, and there is an impending visit from my Canadian sister, and she will no doubt kick off and complain endlessly about me having a 3d Tv, my mom and me have decicded to delay getting the telly.
As you know a few months ago I got me a 42" 1080p TV, and she's gonna kick off about that, so what the fuck is she gonna do about a 3D tv?
Plus it gives me a little more time to save (she's coming for 2 months FFS).

Sounds like a good plan to me, saves all the fuss n headaches.
You're right at least you can save some pennies and perhaps you might come across something else at a cheaper price.

@ Sy It does, but a certain 50" Samsung Plasma 3D TV wont stop calling my name!!!!
Hopefully the prices may have dropped a couple of hundred by then.
@ Dave, no fucking chance pal, I'll drive for 80 minutes each way, it'll cost ME (me not her) around £40 for a round trip, and I'll be lucky to get a free cup of coffee.
Yet if she picks you up from Calgary airport, she expects to get petrol money BEFORE she opens the car doors.

Does that mean when you get it
You can put the glasses over the Camcorder and record some videos of the 3D effect for us
Be really interesting to see how well it works

I'm tempted to get one of these too: Fujifilm finepix w3
They are normall £399+ at currys/comet
£220 on ebay
But is 3D photography a fad?
I dont want to waste that kind of money if I get bored within a couple of weeks.

I've also just ordered a HDMI 1.4 cable for a tenner.
1.4 is supposed to be highspeed and a must for 3d Bluray, but it also carries ethernet signals too.

Personally i would say
Bored quickly and a waist of money,
Nothing different from what my SLR can do, other than Merge the images on its own.
Its just taking 2 shots of 1 image and layering them for the 3D effect....
Am sure you can get a program or even so Do it in photoshop and make layer 2 transparent by 50% and off centre it!!
You dont even need two images.... unless you want more background shot in the second layer
Understand the effect would be slightly different due the camera has 2 lenses at different ends, where you would be taking a single image and duplicating it and layering it,
You would get a 3D effect, but how much depth i duno...
For the price...
Personally Narr
But hey its your Money

The camera makes taking 3D images easier, but you certainly dont need one to take threedee pics.
All the anaglyphs I took I used a standard 2d camera.
With the glasses on they look VERY impressive, not bad at all for a 2d camera.
Like I said, it just makes the process easier. And yes there is software out there that lets you make 2d images into 3d.

Not forgetting about the kodak camera I bought mom for Christmas would now be redundant. Shame too, it does 1080p recording, and it's waterproof to 3 metres.

As for recording PS3 games in 3D... it wont happen unless re-bug lets you disable HDCP, then you need a decent PC and the black magic intensity pro.
So you'd need custom firmware, rebug, a fast PC, and black magic intensity pro.
3 can be done easily, rebug is the hard part.
rebug is a community (hackers) project to enable debug on retail consoles.
