I've banned the offending cunt.
I've also disabled ALL registrations, so until we can get a new spam filter inplace, registration is by invitation only.

I also think a mass cull is needed, there are 3 pages of registered spammers.
Might also be an idea to get rid of some of the older registered users too.

I've enabled reCaptcha for the time being.
that should stop the bots.

Users pruned back to 3 pages.
Dave, you have 5 different user accounts, can you please delete the ones you dont use.
I have re-enabled account creation, but I have enabled re-captcha (re-captcha works PERIOD).
All new users get put into a new user group with VERY limited abilities.
BBcode can be disabled, but it's a forum by forum basis, so that needs going through, which I'll do later today. So the new user group will no be able to post links, if they manage to get through all the security measures.

Ok I've gone a few steps further, I've created a "New User Area", it's a forum just for new users. New users CANNOT see, post, or spam ANY OTHER part of the forum.
I've also disabled news feeds for that area, so no one will see their shit.
But if a legitimate user posts in there, we can see and interact with them.

Ok, registered a new user, logged in and saw everything, also I could make new posts.
The problem was due to new users getting put into 2 groups, new registered user group and registered users group.
Registered users have more permissions.
So I have reduced the permissions to new user forum ONLY.
say bye bye to horrible spam. (Or at least into a forum no one will use).

Will we lose any legitimate new users in there as well though?

Nope, as soon as we realise they are not spammers, they get promoted.
Simples eh?

In theory...maybe you should (or already have? Haven't looked myself) put a thread in there explaining the limited permissions etc..?
P.S: I like that Carlsberg text LOL - reminds me of days doing LSD at Uni
