interview experiences and recruiter moan

well i had a very good interview (i thought) for an IT support role on friday, 21k with bonuses and benefits, so much so im really hoping i get it

then ive got this stupid interview with a company im not even that interested in today, the woman from the recruitment company is pushing me to accept a position with them quickly if they offer which is really starting to irritate me, and they want me to feign interest in something i have no real interest in. its the sort of position i can see that recruiters get you into for the long term, start at the bottom, work your way up, not something im interested in. and im also supposed to kiss ar$e about really wanting to work for a massive global company i feel no affinity for? no ta

ive told her i wont make any snap decisions as im waiting on hearing from the previous interview and may take up to a week, something she thinks i shouldnt do.

personally although she has been helpful im finding the whole 'polite pushy' attitude annoying and its just making me think she wants to fill her quota something i dont care about, i want a job i can enjoy and contribute to, not something that stuffs me into the corporate machine

anyhoos the interviews at 10.30 ill be leaving about 10 so you'll hear from me later, stupid powerpoint presentation invovled too so im winging it.

im not keen on recruitment companies myself ive not really had a good experience with any of them so far

Go in and be shit @ the interview
They will not want to take you

Or be amazing, and wait for an offer from them,
Take it and if something better from your other interview comes go for it.

Say to them, sorry this just aint me. Thanks for the offer. the time and the experience.
But really you want someone who will enjoy the job, someone who thrives for the company.
But this is not for me, and you would only be doing it because i have to.

Sure they would understand and say ok, Cya!!

If they offer you a position you should take it, but say you can't start for a bit. At least long enough to find out if you got the other one. It could also help your case if you go back to the one you wanted and say you need a decision because you'd like to work for them but have another offer.

Similar thing happened to me in June - I was offered a position in a game studio and accepted. Before I started, this agency guy talked me into taking an interview here. I would have preferred the game job in terms of job satisfaction, but logic and practical considerations forced me into accepting the more stable corporate job instead.

Sure, it puts the original people's nose out of joint, but you got to look after number one right? Turning down work in the hope of another job is pretty crazy in this climate though...

well the job was an unmitigated pile of bantha shite, its basically an IT call centre job, you have to work shifts, and work bank holidays including christmases. no fucking chance, i wasnt as good as i could have been in the interview to be blunt but also because it wasnt something i was intererested in that helped :XD and to cap it off the fire alarm went of and we had to evacuate, interview lady sent me on my way then

so i reckon they dont want me, thats fine i dont want them either, id rather be gutting the inards of a 5 year old PC than answering the phone to tosspots

your suggestions are logical guys but really its a no brainer i aint going for this one, ill fit bulbs in halfords for another 12 months if i have to im not compromising
