Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Burnout Paradise was fucking cool, and it's basically that with more countryside and more emphasis on police chases.

Pre-order for me I think...

(I would post some YouTube stuff to show how sweet it looks, but I'm at work and it's blocked.)

yeah man, i used to play this game 24/7 on the pc lol.
New version will rock, i hope they allow a free roam type of gamemode, where players can chase other players at 100% complete will.

With Criterion at the reins, I'm very much suspecting it will be structured like Paradise City (i.e. free roam, drop in-drop out online mode, events started by driving to the start point).

I can't imagine they will sit on all the open world technology and just revert back to old school menu launched events (although they may have that option given the stick PC got for making yuo drive back to retry).

If this is the spiritual successor to Paradise City, Gran Turismo can fuck right off... If you thought PC looked good, they have a new graphics engine for this game. Shiny black Lambourghini cop car...oooh yeah, hit the blues 'n' twos.
:)

You guys really had a hard on for burnout, I didn't take to it, but I did join the party after everyone left.

A lot of die-hard Burnout fans I know were even put off by Paradise City. I put it down to the steep learning curve as you learnt the map of the city. IMO it is the best Burnout ever released by a long way, and only got better as you got to know your way around.

I'd probably still be playing it today if I hadn't copied my 100% to another account so I could reset when the trophy patch came out. But then I deleted that account without thinking during some random tidy up, and lost the save... I can't be arsed to collect all the smashable signs again to get my beloved Carbon Concept back.

ahhh paradise city (where the grass is green) man it was my first ps3 game :D and i loved it, in fact i think thats where i bumped into infinites (probably quite litterally)

when i heard criterion were involved with NFSHP i knew it would be win

and the demo certainly proved that, it was fun, accessible and good looking, i think a rental maybe in order

The full game is fucking awesome. Exactly what I want from a driving game. I started it yesterday and have to say - they have made some subtle tweaks and improvements from the demo. I really didn't like the cop stuff in the demo, but in the full game, I've played more of it than the racing.

The online is great as well - it picks 4 racers and 4 cops at random. I feared lag would be an issue for the contact, but they seem to have that down pretty smooth. Of course, more extensive tests are necessary, and I haven't checked out the voice comms.

I was looking forward to this game, and surprisingly it's actually exceeded my expectations. Nice trophy set too - challenging platinum without grinding or needing ridiculous online requirements.

9.5/10
