Battlefield Bad Company - etiquette and tactics

Well, me (theDAZBOMEGATRON), Dave (theENIGMATRON), and Chris (theDAYWALKERTRON), have just had a couple of seriously bad rounds, all because of our team not doing their job, or more interested in killing each other.

So I've decided to make some pointers, and etiquette's to help non experienced players to rank up and increase skill level.

Battlefield is ALL about teamwork. Without it, it does'nt work. In fact, without it, it's a seriously bad game.

First things first, how to play as a team.
Attackers, attack. Defenders defend (DO NOT ATTACK, don't worry, they'll come to you). The number of games I've lost while defending while our team runs over to the enemy base is in the hundreds.
It's really tempting to keep them in their base so they can't attack, but it only takes one to get behind you, and before you know it, they've planted, and 3 more spawned on them. Now they've planted again, you're on the back foot, running like hell to get there and stop the attack.
Next thing you know, you've lost 2x crates, and they are moving on to the next, and if you're not fast enough, you'll loose them too, then it's all over faster than you can shout M*other F*ucker.

Now for SKILL levels.
You increase skill levels for doing the hard stuff. Arming and defusing crates, taking out vehicles, getting headshots, healing other players, getting assists, and collecting dogtags.
So if you see another player with a high skill level, then work with them, they know what they're doing.
Skill levels are 1-50, mine is around 2,3,4 mark, someone who is around the 50 mark, well, why did you even buy the game, maybe you need to be playing bowls, or weeding your garden, you most definately should'nt be playing games. Yes thats right, 1 is the best, and is awarded to only 1 person at a time. 2-10 is pretty damned good, 50 is bad. So if you see someone at the 2-10 skill level, and they just into a chopper, tank, hummer, or boat, they pretty much know where they are going and how they are going to get there, so follow them, dont hinder them. Especially if they jump into a chopper. How do you know what skill level someone is if you are'nt rank 25? On the right of your name is a triange, if it points up, you are getting better, if it's down it's bad. Also the triangles and numbers have colours assigned to them, red-green, red is bad, green is good. It's a simple indication of your present form, if it's red, work harder, do the hard stuff.

Choppers.
They are fairly hard to fly at first, and even harder to be good at flying and killing. So if someone with a decent skill level gets into one, LET THEM. If you have never flown before, my advice, dont try. Get into the gunners seat with an experienced pilot, you'll cream a lot of points, and you'll see how tough it can be to be good.
There's generally a lot of team killing goes on around the chopper, and this is bad, it's usually one really crap pilot who wants to fly before a really good pilot. And the team massacre begins. If you cant fly and you know you cant, dont bother. One thing to remember with these, they are seriously weak and are easily destroyed. If you plan to fly then play as support, then you can land an repair it.

Tanks.
Light tanks dont take a lot of damage, so if you are driving one, try to keep mobile. If you are attacking one, hit it (and big tanks) at the rear, this is where the exhausts are, and they are seriously weak there. They also have a position for a gunner, now this is a vulnerable positions as your head sticks out of the top, and it's possible to die from gunfire, mortars, and even knife attacks.! Yep it's true.

Hummers (not blowjobs)
These are FAV's - Fast Attack Vehicles. Best bet with these, get a few people to jump into them, and drive behind the enemy base very quickly. Pile out and give it to them.

Artillary.
If you are lucky enough to get on the Arty, and not get teamkilled for the privelidge, then keep an eye on a few things: Emplaced guns and autonader turrets, anti-air (after all, they can destroy a chopper in just a few seconds), and tanks. Learn where they all are and destroy them above all else, after that, go for infantry.
Arty Glitchers, we know they exist, we've all felt their noobness. If you are on the recieving end, do ALL you can to get rid, and if you are on my team and you glitch, I WILL TK you for being a cheating twat. I also have a HD recorder and will record and report you to DICE. I know of several people who can't play BFBC anymore because I recorded them and reported them.

Classes.
Assault: Good for all round killing, both close and long range, has grenades, grenade launcher and even a health injector. Bad for anti-vehicle, has no chance of taking out tanks.
Sniper: Good for very long range killing, taking out tanks with a JDAM, great for defending and throwing out sensors to show your team where the enemy are. Bad at close range, also when snipers shoot, they emit a flash of light that can be seen from a distance, thus giving your position away. Also not very good out in the open.

Demolition: Brilliant for dropping ATM's (anti tank mines) these will destroy ALL types of tanks, but not hummvee's, excellent up close and personal with the shot gun, and just as good at "rocket sniping", trust me, you dont just have to aim rockets at vehicles, try taking out a sniper at long range - very very satisfying. Remember the weak spot on a tank, the ass end! Send them a love rocket up the jacksey for a pleasant surprise.
Bad for anything at a distance of 15 feet (estimated of course) or more, you cant also rocket snipe anything thats moving, it's too damn hard.

Specialist: Good at close range, very good at sneaking into bases quietly, dropping C4 on crates, good at "blowing shit up" great for tagging (Demo guys take note), dropping C4 on various hot spots and waiting to kill someone is an orgasmic feeling. Bad points: Weak gun, sure it's great a close range, at long range, all you do is piss people off and make them aware you are around.

Support: I've seen this kit being used by so many people, and all they want it for is to heal themselves. If thats the case, play assault. This is one kit that has no serious weakness, and thats one of it's strengths. You have guns that are fairly accurate at all ranges, mortars that can devastate the enemy, repair drill (that also doubles up as a damned good killer - try killing a person with it, it's well funny), and health packs.

General tactics and common sense.
Attackers attack. You'd think it was that simple right? Wrong, I see sooooo many people holding back and sniping. YOU WILL NOT WIN IF YOU DO THIS. The more attackers in trying to get into the crates the better.

Defenders defend - Simple? Yep you've read this bit before.
Support players, drop health packs for your team, you'll help the fight and score some easy points, look on the radar from peopl with a flashing X, they need health badly. Go med them, easy points after all.

That really is about it, it's not difficult to play well, but if you have a team that ignores objectives, it's a difficult game to play, dont be one of those players. Be a team player, you'll get extra points, awards, medals and even Bronze Silver and Gold one too, some kits absolutely require it.
