Just watched the trailer for '43 that appeared on Thursday's store update just expecting another gameplay clip... But instead it showed me Dice have stolen the best thing that bloody Nobi Nobi Boy weirdness had going for it: community work towards an unlock.
Looks like when the community kill count hits 43 million, Coral Sea map will unlock. And it looks like it's heavy on the dog fighting. Double bonus

it's a great idea, and if it has an ingame counter, or at least a counter on the main menu, you can physically see the difference you make.
On a side note, you mentioned in a nother post that we complain because it's arrived late, and we should be grateful that it's a polished product rather than buggy.
We complain because of the hype machine, the video's of gameplay, interviews etc, all collaborate to make us want the product.
Then when it's late we complain endlessly.
I agree, but if the media machine did'nt work, or work so well, we would'nt get excited over it.
It's a monster of their making.

Not related to the OP, but also fucking awesome: I played BF with a DS3 for the first time the other day. The rumble of nearby vehicles is really useful, and actually an advantage over non-DS3 users because you can feel them before you can hear them.

Another fucking awesome thing:
The start of any match in '43 with carriers and full teams when people know what they're doing...
You spawn. You're too late for a fighter so you jump in a boat. You hang on for some people, 3 or 4 jump in so both your guns are manned and you got a couple of passengers. The boat next to you is in a similar way.
You drop off the carrier and head inland. Oh shit - incoming fighters from the OpFor carrier. Both your gunners open up. The other boat you were following in gets taken out by a strafing run. A fighter in bound on your boat gets intercepted by a friendly fighter that is lending support.
You make it to the beach, but the OpFor have already taken the flag you were heading for. Everyone piles out admist explosions and gunfire. The game continues...
Shit as quality as this has only ever been seen once before: the Normandy beach landing level in the the PS2 Medal of Honour. But that was the same each time - 1943 is similar but different every time, and with the extra bonus knowledge that everyone is a real human with no scripting.
Fucking awesome.
(This is why I go back on my thought that 2 seater planes would be good. Landing craft have a place too)
