Is it possible that you lot have just played too much Battlefield and are now saturated? I did this myself with the Monster Hunter franchise.

Coming to the game after a long break from the series, I can't see what you all think is so wrong with it personally. My only gripe or improvement (beyond the squads/comms which have been fucked for the 3 games, so won't hold my breath) is that there should be a "vehicle only" server browser option to go along side the "infantry only" one, and similarly servers only running a "traditional" map cycle (e.g. Kharg Island, Caspian Border, Operation Firestorm etc).

I concurr, I'm finding it better with weapon addons and knowing the maps.

Yes there are still frustrating problems, but for the most part it's good.

I know i sound negative but it is really down to how much u play the game you are right.
Because the more you play it, the more bugs you encounter and the more things you see wrong with it.

No offense to anyone here but yaself, pud and daz really only play the game for a few hours a week and probably don't run into many bugs or gameplay issues as opposed to people who play it hours upon hours a day.

The vehicles in this game are not great either compared to other games, people say "gets some gun skills" or play "infantry" i mean really.. who the fuck buys battlefield not to use vehicles. lol.

After 10:30pm at night on conquest half the servers are empty already.
RUSH is shit, people can't play to win, sitting about doing god knows what.

For core gameplay it's alright the engine is sweet, what really gets on my nerves is the maps, so chokepoint and alley-way golden path routes that they always play the same, capture the middle flag and create a chokepoint for entire game.

No routes to go around, if ya got a shit team it only gets worse.
Comms are 50/50 - u get split up, these things ruin this game.

If you play this game more and more, it just gets more frustrating and you start gettting annoyed at minor things.

I am tired of defending DICE, i think they have lost that edge they used to have recently, the game was made as a pick up n play casual gamer franchise and doesn't reward skills or anything..anyone can be good in this game.
At 1500 hours on bc2 i got bored, at 56 hours on bf3 - it was already burnt out.
I think i'm at about 115 hours on bf3 and i couldn't give a shit if i played it again, i'd just play for something to do, i don't enjoy it.

Next Friday is 1 month since release Let's just say that for that 1 month of broken comms and squads there's only a day 1 patch to show for it I won't be too pleased.

Here's the kicker the following Friday it's December is by any chance it goes till then without fixes DICE will be up to their old tricks of bundling content with fixes that pissed everyone off in BC2.

Maybe...but unless bugs are real progression stoppers, they don't define a game. But I like a beef roast, but if I ate it every day, I would go off it.

None taken :) I wish I could play it more...

But I feel a lot of the negative comments towards BF3 (not meaning you specifically) are a product of saturation to the series rather than taking the game in and of itself. As I said, I can relate to this from the Monster Hunter franchise. But what I've realised is that no further releases in the series are going to recapture the awesomeness of that first experience.
Symonator wrote:The vehicles in this game are not great either compared to other games, people say "gets some gun skills" or play "infantry" i mean really.. who the fuck buys battlefield not to use vehicles. lol.
Personally I like the fact that air vehicles are harder to operate than before. Ground vehicles feel largely the same to me (although admittedly I've never really whored BF ground vehicles). I also like the fact that you can tweak their loadouts much more this time around.
Symonator wrote:After 10:30pm at night on conquest half the servers are empty already.
The server browser (at last) makes it easy to find full ones though ;)
Symonator wrote:RUSH is shit, people can't play to win, sitting about doing god knows what.
To me conquest is pretty shit - run around capping flags with maybe the odd fire fight. Sure you can get a lot of points, but you can also go a long time without seeing any opposition.

I like Rush. The fighting is focused and when the teams are balanced a successful attack or defence is pretty damn sweet. I don't find that break-through-a-stalemate moment in conquest.
Symonator wrote:For core gameplay it's alright the engine is sweet...
That is all that is of paramount importance to me. If this wasn't the case I would be writing it off too. But the core shooting mechanics are sound, it looks good and I like the vehicle phsyics.
Symonator wrote:...what really gets on my nerves is the maps, so chokepoint and alley-way golden path routes that they always play the same, capture the middle flag and create a chokepoint for entire game.
This is why I would like a "vehicle only" filter to go along side the infantry one. Because what you described, IMO, only applies to infantry focussed maps. But then it seems to be more specific to conquest too, as rush has a kind of implicit choke point anyway.
Symonator wrote:No routes to go around, if ya got a shit team it only gets worse.

Crap teams and bad comms have plagued every Battlefield on consoles. This is definitely not specific to BF3. And the routes issue could also be applied to Oasis, but no one argues that's a great map...

It's a shame you don't like it though. You could maybe try the dark side for a while? Then maybe it will look pretty damn sweet when you come back to it? :ymhug:

"vehicles only" sounds like "air superiority" from 1943. I understand DICEA want to grab a share of the market belonging to CoD hence "infantry only", but seriously there are 20 game modes in this fucking game already and that is not counting unranked. It will be Sahara after few months.

Squads and VOIP have been fucked forever on consoles and never improved. I don't know why anyone expected that to change for BF3...

It's weird, because I remember VOIP being pretty good on Modern Combat on PS2.

In other news, the MAV is sweet for your team :)

Just unlocked it yesterday and spent two games just camping in base highlighting the entire enemy team on the mining village rush map (forget the name).

You get so many spot assists it's ridiculous. It would be even better with team mates that could appreciate and exploit the tactical advantage, but hey - no accounting for retards...

I also tried to get a roadkill with it, but couldn't pull it off. Don't know if it's possible. I know it is with the engy bot, but not sure about the recon bot. I wish it had armaments, or some other function.
