And... it's gone to blockbuster for £25 on my account.
There's nothing stopping me from getting that dead nation platinum now... except a few million zombies and bosses.

Polyphony continues to make good on its promise to keep piling on the updates for Gran Turismo 5, its latest patch bringing mechanical damage to the PlayStation 3 driving sim.

Version 1.03 sees cars that are involved in heavy accidents subject to mechanical damage – which impacts the handling and performance of the cars. Damage is reflected both cosmetically and on an indicator in the game's HUD.

The patch weighs in at 150MB and comes hand in hand with new PlayStation 3 firmware – meaning you'll have to wait a while to get both up and running.

Early reports suggest that mechanical damage is limited to online races, and doesn't currently play a part in Gran Turismo 5's extensive single player offering.
PMSL WTF is Polyphony's huge problem with damage. Jesus.

I reckon they used to have one or more really good programmer(s) back in the day (PS1 and/or 2), but they have since left while leaving their shiny car engine behind. The only guys left can only monkey copy/paste what was left and have zero creative ability of their own.

Similar to the film industry where someone comes up with a genuinely good idea, then a load of wannabes copy/paste/clone to death until the horse is flogged.

So crash damage is online only, isn't it offline where 95% of the game is based? Also damage is promised on the back of the box, promised on the website and promised before release, so why do they feel the need to add it to a patch 2 weeks after release?

Imagine a First Person Shooter that doesn't give you any weapons until 2 weeks AFTER the game was released? Pfft.
Crash damage is an integral part of a racing game, like guns are to an FPS.

Damage is on Single Player.
And they have done it to help people.

You earn so little at the start of a game, to keep repairing your car on a crash will kill your funds and you will not be able to proceed in the game.

When you get to X rank "I have forgotten it now"
You are earning big bucks. so a bad crash is manageable to repair.
Keep crashing and you will soon be out of pocket.

I know if it was there at the start of the game i would of struggled to get started.
Every penny for me has come into use. and i have even had a helping hand in people lending cars to me.

I dont know the extent of the damage on cars as i am yet to reach to that rank

i really feel sorry for the game now there are a lot of knives coming out for it now

yes its been in development for bloody years and you'd think by now that it would be nearly perfect but its not, and i accept that, but its a decent racing simulation game and i like it, and thats all that matters :)

sure there are graphics problems but its a flawed masterpiece i think, i do have this to say about the Gran Turismo series: though i enjoy this one it will be my last, ive had enough of tests and messing around i just want to get out there and race now.

Got a bit pissed at this game earlier.

I saved up so much money over the 1 million mark anyway.
I wanted to do a few races that i had no decent car for,

And the car i know that would be accepted was the McLaren
(Well i fort so anyway)

600,000 on the car and a further 3,000 on upgrades

Go to eneter the race and it does not accept the car,
What a god dam month fucking waist of money!!!!!

Really why can they not provide you with a list of cars to buy instead of listing

MR or MH next to requirements, WTF is that sup-post to fuckin mean

What more did you want?

I was playing this before and some of the feedback people give is Really shocking.

Here it is to sum it up:

Its a Good Game,
It Does what all the other GTA have done.
The Cars are good.
Graphics are OK
Sounds are Good.

Gameplay is good.
Handing of cars is good.
Tracks are good.
Track Builder (Not used but sounds good)

Overall a Good Game!!

People say there bored, its disappointing, You get a car and race.
You get another you tune it up and you race.........

Am i missing something or has not been the case on all the GTA?

Its a Racing Sim,

I for one have enjoyed it.

The only reason i can think, is after 4 years of a delay people expected that so much more.

1 for one think its a good game,
Its far from Amazing, but Hey all the GTA's are the same.
There all good, and boring in large portions.

In small chunks its a good game, and its been like that for me since day 1 of Grand Turismo.

Anyway just wanted to add my part to the game.

I do Enjoy it, its good fun, I would not play it for hours on end (But i have never played any GTA for hours)
