Thrive: How the money system works
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2063834/

A look at how the money system works to keep poor people poor and how the rich get richer.

Worth a look if you are like me... you think everything is a conspiracy.

Good for a first viewing, second only if there's nothing else on.

What if there was no currency but time? That time is how long you live for after your 25th birthday.
What if you lived in a ghetto where most people survive (only just), and live day to day or hour to hour. Fights to the death (stealing time) are common, as are the Time Keepers (Police), and minute men (gangsters who leave you with just one minute to live).

Now what if you could get out and live 100 years, 1,000 years, or 1,000,000 years?

The above movie Thrive deal with the money system, In Time changes the money system for a time to live system and really makes you think.
If you live day to day, would going to the cinema to see a film like this be worth your time?
Hell yes.

Moneyball.

Staring brad Pitt and the fat guy out of lots of films.

If you didn't know it's a movie about the great American obsession, baseball.
I'm not a fan of baseball, but I do like brad Pitt movies and this is another excellent top drawer performance from the old git Pitt.

I can say he's old, cos he's older than me, only just but he is.
Amazing film, well worth a watch, possibly even twice or more.

Seeking Justice:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1214962
After his wife is assaulted, a husband enlists the services of a vigilante group to help him settle the score. Then he discovers they want a 'favor' from him in return.
I've just finished watching it, and it's ok, not a massive hit but worth a look, the characters didn't gell at all and the empathy was missing. You might see it differently, but it didn't work for me.
It did work for me on plot though, and the story kept me interested.

There's a cast list to die for
Nicolas Cage

Xander Berkeley

But it's the script that lacks imagination and punch, but yet still kept me watching.
Imagine if you will a group of well funded and highly trained and organised vigilantes, now imagine that they operate like a terrorist cell, multiple cells, none know of other cells, but only the top of the ladder know whats going on.
Thats what this movie is about, a single cell in New Orleans taking out the garbage.

But thats the £1,000,000 question isn't it, whats garbage and what isn't?
Only Simon decides and he takes out the innocent too... just to be sure.

Now dont go thinking this is a superman type movies, it's not.
The drug of choice is called NZT, and it doesn't help you to fly or get high, it makes you intelligent, so intelligent you make Einstein look like a 2year old just learning to speak.

Now personally for me, this would be THE ULTIMATE high, nothing could come close. Imagine being able to speak a foreign language, any language, and within a day?

Or compute maths so you could make millions on the stock exchange, or just win virtually every hand of poker.

This movie is about a drug that makes it possible and it's a belter.
Saw this over the weekend and have to agree - it's a great movie. Also, I checked why it was a 15 in case it was unsuitable to watch while the kids were around and it said "graphic violence". I was beginning to think it was lying as we got through the first half, but oh no - it is definitely there lol.

Famed explorer Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) went looking for "magic" deep in the uncharted Amazon basin and never returned. The shocking truth about his disappearance is out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. To the millions of kids who grew up watching his nature show, Dr. Cole was a hero. To his own son, Lincoln (Joe Anderson), he was more of an enigma. Now, six months after he vanished, Lincoln is finally ready to bury the past when Dr. Cole's emergency beacon suddenly goes off. At the urging of his mother, Tess (Leslie Hope), Lincoln reluctantly joins her on a search for his father. To fund the rescue, they agree to let Dr. Cole's cagey ex-producer, Clark (Paul Blackthorne), film the mission documentary-style. The mixed crew of old friends and new acquaintances includes the missing cameraman's daughter, Lena Landry (Eloise Mumford), Magus mechanic Emilio Valenzuela (Daniel Zacapa) and private security bodyguard Captain Kurt Brynildson (Thomas Kretschmann).
It was billed as a 1 season 8 episode paranormal TV show, but by the looks of it, it's going to trip over to another season. But either way it's excellent viewing and each episode gives us a tiny bit more info on Dr Emmett.

It's good viewing though, worth a look for sure.

InfiniteStates wrote:^ Nice tip with Haven Daz, cheers. I'll definitely check that one out - always on the look out for class DVD box sets.

I recently watched Unstoppable again and it's still awesome. I saw it randomly on the plane to Canada and it was the best of the bunch, but I saw it in Tescos for £8 the other day so bagged it.

Tony Scott + Denzel Washington. 'Nuff said.
Just finished watching this again on Sky, there's something about this movie that never gets old.

I would have thought there'd be a second film already, but nope!

Well the book (sequel) exists... so maybe one day.....

Dunno if this has been posted before, but I'll just re-iterate if it has :)

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1442449/

This is the first series, with brutal stylised violence and beau-coup naked chicks. Win x 2. You might be pleased to hear its Australian instead of American, and who's not interested in Xena Warrior Princess' babylons?

And there's a prequel - something to do with the Spartacus actor having cancer that flared or something, so they made this instead of season 2. I didn't look it up properly.

But this prequel which is good for filling in the background on some of the characters. I did find the action less frequent on this "series" and they had more of a tendency to interlace the violence and the sex. It's still worth a watch though.

WARNING...
You will be exposed to a couple of instances of exposed man-cock. But there is a lot more bush to offset it #:-s
